Fish roe soup comes as standard

What really surprised me at Jangeo Daega was that fish roe soup (altang) comes as a standard. It was packed with roe and milt, and looked and tasted every bit as good as a main dish ⭐️ The broth was spicy and rich, and went nicely with the grilled eel.

Is it worth ordering doenjang jjigae and bibim naengmyeon separately?

I ordered the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), which comes with a bowl of rice, separately. The deep flavor of country-style soybean paste was so refreshing. It had big chunks of tofu and lots of other ingredients, so it felt even more filling.

I also added bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles, ₩7,000) to have with the grilled eel. The sweet-and-sour sauce coated the noodles evenly and got my appetite going, and I liked that the broth came separately!

How much is the grilled eel at Jangeo Daega, and what flavors are there?

Grilled eel at Jangeo Daega is ₩69,000 for 2 eels, and you can choose spicy, soy or salt flavor. The eel came out without any wait. We wanted to enjoy the natural taste of the eel as much as possible, so we picked soy and salt!

The eel arrives pre-grilled, so there was no waiting around to cook it ourselves. The grill plate isn't for cooking the eel, just for keeping it warm, so we could eat it warm and tasty to the very end ⭐️

And of course we couldn't skip the eel tail, which is supposed to be great for you, haha. The tail was definitely chewier than the other parts!?!! 🫢🫢

Do grilled deodeok and ginseng come with the eel?

If you order grilled eel at Jangeo Daega, grilled deodeok (bellflower root) comes as standard too. An extra portion is ₩10,000, but for two people the amount was generous enough that we didn't need to add any!

The fragrant aroma of deodeok is so good~~ Eating healthy eel together with deodeok made me feel full of energy 💪🏻 I felt proud of properly looking after my health, haha.

On top of that, each person gets a ginseng root on the grill, so I figured this summer's stamina would be no problem!

How did the grilled eel at Jangeo Daega taste?

The grilled eel at Jangeo Daega was moist and tender, with no fishy taste. I wrapped it up in a lettuce wrap, and maybe because it had been a while since I'd had eel, I wondered whether eel had always been this good.

First of all, no fishy taste, which I love. It was moist and tender and melted in my mouth~~ The nutty, clean texture was excellent too 👍
