Seosan sashimi restaurant with flounder sekkoshi: Jonghap Eosijang
In short
Seosan Jonghap Eosijang (서산종합어시장) is a newly opened sashimi restaurant on Nambusunhwan-ro in Seosan, Chungnam, open daily from 11am to 3am the next morning. The writer visited with an acquaintance around 8pm on a weekday and ordered flounder sashimi plus flounder sekkoshi (thin-sliced bone-in raw fish) for 49,000 won and crab meat bibimbap; lettuce wraps with hijiki from the self-serve bar were the highlight. Thanks to fresh flounder and a generous self-serve bar at Seosan Jonghap Eosijang, the two of them finished every last slice.

Do you know about the brand-new hot spot in Seosan?! I actually went, and the vibe is seriously buzzing and the place is at peak popularity. Let me introduce this Seosan sashimi restaurant, Seosan Jonghap Eosijang (서산종합어시장)!
Where is Seosan Jonghap Eosijang, and where do you park?
Seosan Jonghap Eosijang is at 1007 Nambusunhwan-ro, Seosan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, around the intersection with the Olive Young in Seosan. It's in a really visible spot, so you'll spot it right away!!

There's a parking lot at the back door! Pass the barricade, drive in, and park within the lines~ There's plenty of space, so coming by car looks really easy.
- Hours: daily 11:00 to 03:00 the next day
- Parking lot available

Seosan Jonghap Eosijang at 8pm on a weekday: the atmosphere
I went late, around 8pm on a weekday, and out of all those seats there was exactly one table left, and even the outdoor seats were packed?! The inside was bigger and more pleasant than I expected~ Maybe because it's a new restaurant in Seosan, it was big and clean.
(I've never seen such a popular restaurant in Seosan) (never seen such a crowd) (it was showing up as a weekly trending search on Naver lol)
The menu is really cute and easy to read, too. Every table has a kiosk, so ordering was quick and easy ^__^

A full bowl of seaweed soup as a free side
These are the side dishes we got by default at Seosan Jonghap Eosijang! It passed my test right from the big bowl of seaweed soup (miyeokguk) that came out haha. I really love restaurants that give you seaweed soup ><
Actually the self-bar has lots of other side dishes you can just grab as needed, but I got so caught up in the seaweed soup that I took a step back for now.. haha I'll show you what I got from the self-bar below~

Flounder sashimi + flounder sekkoshi for 49,000 won: how does it taste?
The sashimi we ordered was flounder sashimi + flounder sechimi (thin-sliced bone-in fish) for ₩49,000! The friend I came with likes flounder, so we ordered it right away. It came out earlier than I expected, as if they sliced it right after we ordered, and I was genuinely surprised by the quality!!
The flounder sashimi was so, so fresh and lively.. ✨ and it had so much flavor!? It's honestly the best sashimi I've had in a long time :)

The flounder sechimi had a nice crunchy texture too, and I loved it ^__^ The slightly different colors are because different parts of the flounder have slightly different colors, they told us~ Can't you see how fresh the flounder is just from the photos~?!!!

What's at the Seosan Jonghap Eosijang self-serve bar?
The self-bar at Seosan Jonghap Eosijang has everything from white kimchi and wrap veggies like perilla leaves and lettuce to tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and fish cutlets. Now that I'd pulled myself together, I brought back more side dishes so I could actually eat the sashimi haha. White kimchi, perilla leaves and lettuce are an absolute must with sashimi, right~?
There were tteokbokki and fish cutlets too, and I took some and they were so good I went back for more haha. There were lots of fried dishes on the menu and I wanted to order one, but I was holding back because I worried two people couldn't finish it,, but with the tteokbokki and fish cutlets there, that was totally solved ><

This is the self-bar~ And honestly the real must-have is the hijiki (tot, a seaweed) haha. Hijiki goes surprisingly well with sashimi, and putting it in a wrap is so good! I wondered why I'd never eaten hijiki with sashimi until now! ㅜㅜ

Crab meat bibimbap, even better topped with sashimi
The crab meat bibimbap (mixed rice bowl) at Seosan Jonghap Eosijang comes with a literal fistful of crab meat on top >< I was craving rice too, so I ordered it, and the look of it with all the ingredients piled on was so good that I started mixing it as soon as it arrived.

The rice came separately, and here it is with all the rice mixed in! There's so much crab meat, and eaten with the vegetables and flying fish roe it was so, so tantalizingly good, and topping it with a slice of flounder sashimi was truly the icing on the cake~

Why flounder sashimi is best in a hijiki wrap
Even looking at it again, that insane look,, the flounder sashimi. I really had no idea flounder was such delicious sashimi~

The flounder belly part was rich and nutty too, and eating the sechimi and sashimi back and forth I never got tired of it, and the two of us finished the whole thing!! haha
Sashimi goes well with wasabi, and with soy sauce, gochujang (chili paste) or ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), right? Wrapping it with garlic or chili is tasty too, but as I recommended, wrapping it with hijiki was my number one favorite :)

This is the photo of me wrapping hijiki and sashimi together. It's a flavor I recommend, so please try it~ (Adding seaweed too is also very, very good haha)

Outdoor seating at Seosan Jonghap Eosijang for autumn get-togethers
The outdoor seating at Seosan Jonghap Eosijang looks so, so good for enjoying the atmosphere and having a nice time with friends and family when the weather is nice and cool like now! People were enjoying all kinds of occasions, family gatherings, company dinners, friend meetups, and they all looked so happy, which was lovely to see :)
