Why I picked Smith's Farm in Haeundae on day one of my Busan trip
On the first day of our Busan trip, the very first place I headed to by taxi after arriving in Haeundae was Smith's Farm (스미스씨네농장), a well-known Western restaurant in the area. It's close to our hotel, Park Hyatt Busan, so it was perfect before check-in, and since there's no break time, we went around 2pm! The mood and the food both satisfied me, so let me introduce it.
The exterior caught my eye right away. The green awning stands out from far away and there's a big SMITH'S FARM sign at the entrance, so even first-timers won't have trouble finding it.

What are the interior and seating at Smith's Farm like?
True to its name, Smith's Farm has an interior with a clear farm concept. In the middle of each table sit vegetable objects like carrots, eggplants and corn, and instead of feeling corny they create a stylish, hip atmosphere.
Go further in and the main hall and a large space open up, with a Christmas tree set up on one side. Even though it was summer it didn't feel odd at all; it suited the space so well that it was great for photos. There were plenty of sofa seats and baby chairs too, so it feels comfortable to visit with kids! Soft music added to the good mood throughout the meal.
Smith's Farm menu and how to book

You can book Smith's Farm through both Naver Reservation and Catch Table, so I recommend reserving for weekends or the dinner peak. We booked ahead on Naver.

Here's what we ordered this time.
- Grilled romaine salad
- Croutons soup
- Octopus steak
- Shrimp oil pasta
- Draft beer

Grilled romaine salad and draft beer
The food came out faster than I expected, and the first dish was the grilled romaine salad. Add a cold draft beer and all the fatigue from the first day of the trip melted away!
It's made with chili oil, bacon chips, a special mayo sauce and green sauce, and I was surprised by how big the romaine was. It felt like a full plate dish and was just right as a starter. I can see why it's one of their signature dishes. Crunchy texture plus a nutty sauce 🫣

Sweet pumpkin croutons soup
The croutons soup we ordered with it was a sweet pumpkin soup with pieces of bread in it. It was smooth and sweet, not too heavy, and delicious. It went well with the salad and did a great job of whetting the appetite before the meal 🤎 The soup is so good too.

Shrimp oil pasta
Honestly, the pizza looked really good and I agonized over it, but we'd already ordered a lot and would be full, so I gave it up and chose the shrimp oil pasta instead.
It's an oil pasta with shrimp, roasted garlic, garlic stems, zucchini and lemon zest, and I liked that it was clean rather than greasy. The garlic aroma spread gently, there was plenty of shrimp, and it went well with the octopus steak too.

How was the signature octopus steak at Smith's Farm?
The dish I was most looking forward to: Sea! The octopus steak looks special from the first glance, as befits Smith's Farm's signature. They say fresh octopus is washed, boiled and aged in-house before cooking, and the texture was really tender yet chewy. It felt just like being in Busan, with octopus 🫶🏻
It comes with soy butter sauce, sweet carrot purée and a garnish of assorted grilled vegetables, and the plating is so pretty.
The octopus itself has a nice spring and chew, and it went even better with the grilled vegetables. The wasabi mayo and chipotle sauce lifted the octopus flavor even more. The more sauce you dip it in, the better it gets. Definitely the best menu item 💚

The staff explained the menu carefully and were friendly, so we felt comfortable throughout the meal.

Lots of my favorite veggies

Smith's Farm as a first meal in Haeundae: how was it?
Delicious food and friendly service made Smith's Farm a satisfying stop, and I recommend it as a Western restaurant in Haeundae. It was an easy walk from our Marine City accommodation, and it started our Busan trip off right, which makes it even more memorable. Smith's Farm is a no-regrets choice in Haeundae 😊
