Marbled beef restaurant in Gwangalli, Busan: beef tongue at Bisyoku
In short
Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is a yakiniku restaurant in an alley off Gwangan-haebyeon-ro in Gwangalli, Busan. The writer visited with her mother and ordered the premium marbled loin, the premium beef tongue and a 10,000-won hanwoo doenjang stew: the marbled beef was tender without feeling heavy, and the tongue was chewy with a surprising crisp bite. The doenjang stew came loaded with oxtail meat and is worth ordering alongside the grilled beef at Bisyoku.

Today I'm introducing a great yakiniku spot for a date with mom in Gwangalli — Bisyoku Gwangan Branch.

What is the atmosphere like at Bisyoku Gwangan Branch?
The moment you step into Bisyoku Gwangan Branch, the atmosphere is amazing. The space is pretty spacious and every corner is beautifully decorated, so the mood shifts completely from the second you walk in for dinner.

The view through the window was especially lovely, haha 🌊 the point being — this is Gwangalli! It was fun getting to enjoy this kind of atmosphere so close to Gwangalli Beach.

Overall the space felt clean but had little decor pieces scattered around, so there was fun in just looking around. It suits a date spot well, and also seems like a good pick when you're looking for a stylish bar in Gwangalli.

How tender is the marbling on Bisyoku's premium loin?
That day we ordered extra sang-loin, extra beef tongue, and hanwoo doenjang stew (soybean paste stew).

The first dish to arrive was the extra sang-loin, which they describe as boasting top-grade marbling and deep flavor.

Even in the photo, you can see the marbling is quite vivid, right? Tasting it, the meat was truly tender. Despite the marbling, it wasn't overly rich or greasy, and you could really taste the meat's own flavor. Grilling it piece by piece, I got both the juiciness and the nutty savoriness at once, so I could properly enjoy the charm of yakiniku. 🥩

Egg yolk soy sauce and yuzu salt: which dip works best?
Bisyoku Gwangan Branch also has a variety of sauces prepared, so I tried several combinations. There was even an option to dip in egg yolk soy sauce, and the nutty yolk plus soy flavor paired really well with the meat.

Dipping in yuzu salt or the other sauces gave the meat a whole different flavor each time, so it was fun enjoying one cut of meat in several different ways.

Side dishes and grilled vegetables at Bisyoku
The side dishes were every single one delicious too. They were put together to pair nicely with the meat, and each one felt like it had care put into it.

Eating only meat for a while can make your mouth feel heavy, but the vegetables came out too, so it was nice mixing them in between bites. Vegetables really do have a different charm once grilled. 🥬 Cooked on the grill plate, they released moisture and turned soft and juicy, giving a lovely tender texture.

What does the premium beef tongue taste like?
Next up was the extra beef tongue. This was actually my first time eating beef tongue in Korea. The texture was more fun than I expected — slightly chewy on the outside, but with a crisp bite as you chewed, definitely a different texture from regular meat. Alternating between the tender extra sang-loin and the chewy-crisp beef tongue made for a fun way to enjoy two totally different kinds of meat. If you're a yakiniku lover who hasn't tried beef tongue before, I'd say it's worth giving it a shot.

A 10,000-won hanwoo doenjang stew packed with oxtail meat
And finally, there was one dish that was really satisfying. It's the hanwoo doenjang stew. It's priced at ₩10,000, but it came generously loaded with oxtail meat. I ordered a doenjang stew and was surprised to see it also packed with meat. And this stew was genuinely delicious. It had been a while since I had such a good doenjang stew at a meat restaurant — that satisfying. 🥘

The savory character of doenjang combined with the flavor of the oxtail meat to give the broth real depth, and the zucchini and onion inside were cut into big chunks that gave a nice texture too. It's a dish that pairs well with rice after eating meat. Personally, I really hope you order the hanwoo doenjang stew alongside your meat at Bisyoku. Finishing the meal with the doenjang stew instead of stopping at just meat made the whole meal feel much more substantial.

Who should book a yakiniku dinner at Bisyoku in Gwangalli?
Overall, what I felt throughout the meal was that careful attention had gone into each and every dish. There were many kinds of meat, plus sauces, side dishes, and vegetables, so you could enjoy it in various ways depending on your taste. Above all, the restaurant's atmosphere felt like a little trip, so it seems like a great pick when you want a date in Gwangalli with a different vibe than usual. 🤍 I went with my mom and she loved it ☺️
✔️ I'd recommend this to:

If you want to enjoy yakiniku in a space full of atmosphere in Gwangalli, I recommend Bisyoku Gwangan Branch. 🥩 Between the tender extra sang-loin, the chewy-crisp extra beef tongue, and the oxtail-loaded hanwoo doenjang stew, it made for a satisfying meal all around. The doenjang stew especially was a dish I really enjoyed, so I'd definitely recommend ordering it alongside the meat.
