Late-evening bakery café in Yangju: Oreo brownie, yuzu ade, Doasis

In short

Doasis is a large bakery café in a renovated former bathhouse in Deokjeong-dong, Yangju, Gyeonggi, with an indoor garden full of palm trees and cycads brought from Jeju. On a late-evening visit, the blogger sat on a sofa and had an Oreo chocolate brownie, blueberry brioche, pandoro and yuzu ade, then packed the leftover bread at Doasis's self-packing counter. Doasis still had plenty of bread to choose from late in the evening, making it a roomy, relaxed Yangju café for bread and drinks.

Is parking easy at Doasis?

At Doasis, the large café in Yangju, customers can park for free. The parking lot is also quite big, so parking was easy.

What kind of place is Doasis, the large café in Deokjeong-dong, Yangju?

Doasis in its renovated former bathhouse building

Doasis (DOASIS) is a newly opened large café in Deokjeong-dong, Yangju, Gyeonggi, in a former bathhouse building that has been stylishly renovated. It is said to cover about 2,000 pyeong. This time, I paid it a visit.

The space that caught my eye most at Doasis was the indoor garden set up deep inside the café. My first thought on walking in was, as you'd expect from a big café, "this place is really huge!" haha The tables are nicely spaced out and there are plants all around, so it felt less like visiting a café and more like going out to an indoor garden.

Real palm trees, grown in Jeju and brought over, fill the café, and the green atmosphere is really pretty. Young shoots were coming up on the smaller cycads, and I was told that two of the taller cycads have even flowered. It doesn't feel like decorative plants were simply set out; you can see the plants actually growing, which made the space feel even more special.

Is it good for groups or for bringing a dog?

Doasis has a very long table where a group can sit together, and on the 4th floor there is a dog playground of about 400 pyeong. Since the space is so big, the long table made it look fine for visiting with several friends, for family gatherings or for group meetups. With the dog playground, it seems like a good fit for people looking for a dog-friendly café too.

Where I sat: a comfy sofa

Various seating areas at Doasis

Doasis has a variety of seats, including regular tables, floor tables and sofas. I wavered between a regular table and a floor table, then settled on a sofa that looked incredibly comfortable. I liked that with so many kinds of seats, you can pick the one that suits the mood you want.

Is there still bread left when you go late in the evening?

Breads still left at Doasis late in the evening

As a bakery café, Doasis had quite a variety of breads. I visited a bit late in the evening, so some had already sold out, but there was still a good amount of tasty-looking bakery items left, so I picked out a few to try haha Seeing all the different breads set out together, they looked so appetizing.

The Doasis chocolate brownie wasn't just overwhelmingly sweet; it was moderately sweet with a dense, fudgy texture, and it was delicious. I tried my favorite, the chocolate brownie, first. I love chocolate, so whenever a bakery café has a brownie, I almost always have to try it haha Eating it together with the Oreo on top, a chocolate lover like me was satisfied, of course!

Doasis, the large café in Yangju, requires one drink per person! I ordered a yuzu ade. The color was so pretty right away. It also came out in a lovely color in photos, so it was great for shooting alongside the bakery items haha

The yuzu ade had the fresh, zesty feel of yuzu and was moderately sweet, so it was easy to drink. A very sweet drink can make bread taste even sweeter, but the yuzu ade had just the right sweetness, so it went well with the bread too.

Blueberry brioche

The blueberry brioche! The bread itself was really soft and had blueberries in it, and it wasn't as sweet as I expected, so I enjoyed it even more. Very sweet bread gets tiring after a few bites, but the subtle blueberry flavor and the soft bread went well together, so I quite liked this one.

Pandoro

I also tried the pandoro, and it's dusted with plenty of powdered sugar on top, so it looks sweet just from the picture, right? haha When I cut it open, the inside was full of cream, so it was soft and sweet and nice to eat. With the sweetness of the powdered sugar plus the cream, it seemed like a bread that would go well with coffee or another drink.

You can pack leftover bread at the self-packing counter

Bread packed at the Doasis self-packing counter

The bread I couldn't finish at Doasis could be packed up myself at the self-packing counter set up in the café. So I packed the leftovers neatly and ate them again at home haha Rather than just leaving leftover bread behind, being able to pack it and take it with you was convenient too.

A large café in Yangju that's good for relaxing

The space at Doasis is so large that I could spend time there comfortably without feeling cooped up. There's an area decorated like an indoor garden, which was fun to look around while taking pictures, and photo zones dotted around added to the fun of taking photos. With so many kinds of bakery items, it was also nice for a simple bread-and-drink stop.

With a long table for groups and even a dog playground, I think it's worth a look not only for friends, couples and families but also for people planning to visit with a dog. I was glad that, even though I came late, I could still pick out tasty bakery items, and every bread I tried was delicious, so I was satisfied. If you're looking for a big café in Yangju, or want to enjoy bread and drinks leisurely in a large space, it could be worth a visit :)
