Ulsan shabu-shabu buffet late rainy dinner, 3 plates of beef: Wabom

Do you like shabu-shabu? These days you can get all kinds of hot dishes and desserts at shabu places, almost like a buffet, so I love them! Even on gloomy days I crave a hot broth, and shabu popped into my head. Recently, on a rainy day, I wanted it, and a new shabu place called Wabom had just opened in Mugeo-dong, so I went!

Wabom Ulsan Mugeo Branch is on the 10th floor of Hansol Apple Tower in Mugeo-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan! For parking, use the Maldeunsaem Parking Tower, the blue building right next to it, and they cover 2 hours.

Interior and seating at Wabom

The inside of Wabom Ulsan Mugeo Branch is pretty big! There's a large hall on the left as you enter and rooms at the back. On the right is the main area with the food, and there are seats behind that too!

Sushi, seafood and hot food at the buffet

I was surprised by how many kinds of food there were the moment I walked in. The stations form a square around the center, and the left and right lines are also lined with different categories. Lots of sushi too.

There's skipjack tuna (gaseo), Guro, salmon, octopus, squid, ganjang gejang (soy-marinated raw crab) and kkotgejang (spicy marinated raw blue crab) too.

The seafood is varied too, with mussels, clams, shrimp and blue crab, so you can even make your shabu broth seafood-style!

Lots of pizza, fried food and chicken too! And those honey butter potato chips are insanely good!

There are plenty of hot dishes too, like tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and japchae (glass noodle stir-fry). I went late, but there was still lots of variety and plenty of food, and everything was being kept warm!

Shabu-shabu vegetable station and Korean side dishes

This side is the vegetable station that goes great with shabu!! Beyond the basic shabu vegetables, there's extra stuff like bok choy-type greens and tofu pouches, so it feels like even more choice! There's also a range of Korean dishes like yukhoe (seasoned raw beef), salad and kimchi!

And hot sundae (Korean blood sausage) and bossam (boiled pork)! Wrapped up with kimchi, how good is that~~

Dipping sauces

The sauces come in lots of kinds too, like sesame, chili, sukiyaki, miso and ponzu, so you can make your own! This is my first plate, piled high like this. If you love vegetables, a shabu place is just the best!!

Which beef cuts does Wabom Ulsan Mugeo Branch serve?

The fridge at Wabom Ulsan Mugeo Branch holds brisket, chuck, round and rump, each in its own section. Every cut has its own character, so eat whichever you like!!

Dessert: yogurt, affogato, chocolate fondue and fruit

The dessert side has everything from yogurt to a huge range of toppings, so you can top your ice cream or finish sweet with yogurt.

Or add coffee and have it as an affogato! The desserts are something kids and parents can enjoy together, so it makes for a nice time as a family. And there's chocolate fondue that kids love!!!

There are lots of snacks too, so dipping them in chocolate fondue is amazing!!! I can't believe they have chocolate fondue!!

The fridge also has fruit like dragon fruit, grapefruit, mango and passion fruit, plus tteok (rice cakes), cakes and more. I think you could fill a whole plate with just desserts!

Review: a late rainy-night dinner of three plates of beef and pineapple rice paper wraps

Here's how I ate it~~ At Wabom Ulsan Mugeo Branch, one plate of meat has quite a lot on it! After three plates of beef I was full.

The meat quality is good, and the vegetables seem well looked after, fresh and tasty! Dropping the vegetables into the broth!!!

I put in a whole heap like this, and always add pineapple! Wrap it up nicely in rice paper, dab on some sauce and eat it in one bite, so good~

For round two I brought a ton of vegetables again! They had fish cake skewers, so I added fish cake, and you know how good kabocha squash is when you put it in and eat it as it starts to mash, right~? At the end you can add noodles or make porridge, but I was full from eating other tasty things, so it was straight to dessert!

I finished cleanly with ice cream and fruit for dessert! I'd been feeling chilled that day, but after a hearty, hot meal at Wabom Ulsan Mugeo Branch it was completely gone!
