Hapjeong Thai restaurant, Set A with calamansi ade: Saeng Augustine
In short
Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch is a Thai restaurant on basement level 1 of Mecenatpolis, near Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. On a Saturday lunch visit, the writer ordered Set Menu A (2 tod mun goong shrimp cakes, pad thai, poo pad pong crab curry and rice) with a calamansi ade. Both the pad thai and the poo pad pong curry were pleasantly spicy, and the rice portion was generous. With a spacious dining room, sofa seats and easy Mecenatpolis parking, Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch is a solid pick for lunch or a group dinner near Hapjeong Station.

Saeng Augustine's entrance in Mecenatpolis and the menu boards outside
Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch is right next to the "Delicious Street" (맛있는 거리) sign in Mecenatpolis.

Saeng Augustine! I only just learned the "Saeng" is "saint" haha

They kindly put a menu board outside too.

Entrance menu board no. 2.

Two glasses of Stella draft beer for ₩14,000. Sounds so good... Stella is just delicious, isn't it?

Outside menu board no. 3. Okay, let's head inside.
Saturday lunch atmosphere inside Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch
Maybe because it was Saturday lunchtime, Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch was full of people. Looks like it's a popular lunch spot in Hapjeong.

After sitting down, I also took a photo of the left side (toward the counter).

There are sofa seats too, and I thought it looked great for a group lunch near Hapjeong Station.
What's on the menu at Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch?
The menu starts with set menus. Wow, what we wanted to eat is in the set menu!

There's a drink promotion too. I'd decided on a fruit ade, and they also sell Thai milk tea (which I really love). I agonized over it and ended up skipping the Thai milk tea.

Best sellers! The tom yum kung even comes out in a sort of brazier! The real deal. There are also new items like leng saeb (Thai pork rib soup), crab meat coffee rice bowl and fresh coconut.

Next up are the soups and salads, side dishes, noodles (I have to get the pad thai), and noodle and rice dishes.

Among the unique-ish dishes is phu phong curry (crab curry), and you can add rice too. Chili sea bass, pad kra pao moo sap (stir-fried minced pork with basil), leng saeb and more... it's truly properly Thai haha The pad kra pao moo sap is so good, right? My mouth is watering. The drinks run over several pages too, and the Thai milk tea looks so delicious~~~

What comes in Saeng Augustine's Set Menu A, and how does it taste?
Set Menu A at Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch comes with 2 tom man kung (shrimp cakes), pad thai, phu phong curry and rice. I added a calamansi ade to go with it.

They put out pickles the moment we sat down.
Tod mun goong (Thai shrimp cakes)
Two tom man kung!

Let's dig in. So. Darn. Good.

Pad thai and poo pad pong curry (stir-fried crab curry)
Pad thai arrives!!! Is that a dried chili or a Vietnamese chili? Whatever, seeing it put me in a good mood. While I was mixing the pad thai, the phu phong curry showed up!

The amount of rice in Set A is crazy...

That's the phu phong curry, and here's one shot with the pad thai and phu phong curry together.

A bite of the phu phong curry.

A bite of the pad thai too. Both the pad thai and the phu phong curry are spicy and delicious.

A bite of the crab in the phu phong curry, then the pad thai with shrimp, peanuts and noodles together.

A bite of this and a bite of that.

Partway through I ordered a calamansi ade too. I needed some fizz! Honestly, I recommend this as a Thai restaurant near Hapjeong Station!
