When water stains or an oily film built up on my windshield and side windows, my visibility felt frustratingly blocked on rainy days. Even with the wipers running, things would smear hazily or the droplets would not wipe away well, so I tried AutoGrooming Clean View oil-film remover. I received the product and used it.
What is the order for using an oil-film remover?
The process was simple. I first removed dirt from the glass surface, spread the product over it evenly, and rubbed it repeatedly 4–5 times. Finally, I rinsed the glass thoroughly under running water.
Was the included dedicated towel easy to use?
The oil-film remover came with a dedicated towel, so I did not need to prepare a separate cloth. It felt better to use than just any cloth from home, and the set was convenient even for someone trying this for the first time.
I also noticed that the product and towel colors matched. The process of putting the solution on the towel and wiping was not complicated, so it felt less daunting even as someone new to DIY car care.
The product and towel both felt like a good size to use. The dedicated towel has different front and back sides, which was handy for wiping first with one side and then going over it once more with the other.
What changed when I tried it on a regular mirror first?
I first tried it on a regular mirror. I sprayed the solution onto the glass and rubbed it a few times with the dedicated towel.
At first the surface felt slippery, but it began to feel squeaky-clean as I wiped. The areas that looked like they had an oily film also diminished, making the mirror look cleaner. There were wipe marks during the process, but after rubbing more with the towel, no marks remained.
I wiped it more with the towel and sprayed on water. The circular area where I had used the product looked clear, while moisture remained around it, so I could see the difference.
How was it on bathroom glass?
I heard it could also be used on shower-booth glass, so I tried it at home too. I applied the product, rubbed it in, and then sprayed water on it.
No water droplets remained on the area where I applied the product. Seeing this, I felt it could also help when maintaining shower-booth glass that looks cloudy from water stains.
How long did the car glass take, and how was the visibility?
I tried it on my car too. I worked on not only the windshield but also the side and rear windows, and in my case it took about 10 minutes. I was happy that I could finish the job without setting aside lots of weekend time.
Afterward, when I sat in the driver’s seat and looked ahead, my view felt clearer. Rainy-day glass had been making things feel so obstructed, so what I liked most was how clean everything in front of me looked after using it.
I was told there is little concern about whitening even if it touches rubber molding or surrounding areas, which made the job feel less burdensome. In my experience, the dedicated towel was easy to work with, and cleaning all of the car glass did not take long.
