Luonto in Sutonggol is the chimney bread spot in Yuseong~!! I want to record the perfect tea time I had with a close friend at this outdoor-dome café in Yuseong, Daejeon, a chimney bread favorite.

Sutonggol is one of Daejeon's top hotspots, packed with hikers and tourists all year round. With its thick forest and clear valley stream, lots of people come to enjoy nature, and plenty of restaurants and cafés have opened around it. Among all those cafés, there's one hidden regular spot I visit often: Café Luonto. Normally I only whispered about it to my very closest friends, but the visit I made with a friend this weekend went so well that I decided to put it on my blog, just this once.

This time I ordered the signature chimney bread (gulttukppang, baked to order) in cinnamon flavor, an iced Americano and an iced Einspänner.

True to its name, the bread is baked in a cylinder shape with a unique look, and since it's baked right when you order, it always arrives hot and fresh. That's the real selling point. 🫶👏👏👏🎶💜🎵 The nutty, warm smell of freshly baked bread starts to spread the moment it lands on the table, and it puts you in a good mood. This time I ordered the cinnamon flavor.

The outside was baked crisp, and the inside was soft and moist. The sweet, spicy scent of cinnamon is subtle, and the moment you take a bite your mood lifts. It isn't too sweet, just the right level, so it goes really well with coffee.

The cylindrical chimney shape is unusual and cute, so it's perfect for photos too. My friend, amazed by a bread shape she'd never seen, kept snapping pictures. Dipping it into the whipped cream served alongside makes it even more delicious~!🧡

Iced Americano and iced Einspänner with acidic beans

At Luonto, both the iced Americano and the iced Einspänner could be made with acidic beans. We each picked our own drink.. haha. I went with the iced Americano~!! My friend ordered the iced Einspänner.

I liked that both could be made with acidic beans. They had the fruity notes and clean brightness that acidic beans are known for, and paired with the sweet cinnamon scent of the chimney bread, the combination was perfect.

The iced Einspänner, with cream softly layered over strongly brewed coffee, looked so pretty that my friend took photos the second she got it.

I loved how you get the cream's gentle sweetness and the coffee's bitterness all at once. With acidic beans as the base, the aftertaste was cleaner and more refreshing.

Even packed with ice, the iced Americano kept the coffee's own aroma and flavor, and it was cool yet deep. We were both very satisfied.

Where to sit at Luonto on a crowded weekend: the 1st floor

On crowded weekends at Luonto Sutonggol Branch, the tip is to go for the relatively quiet 1st-floor seats. This weekend was seriously the busiest I've ever seen. The 2nd floor was already full, and the 3rd floor had more than half its seats taken.

Families, couples, groups of friends, all kinds of customers were filling the floors. I've been here many times, but this was the first time I'd seen it this crowded recently. So we took the reverse approach. While everyone rushed to the 2nd and 3rd floors for the views, we chose the relatively quiet 1st floor. Thanks to that, we could sit comfortably and chat at leisure.

My friend, on her first visit, was super excited even before we went, and once we got there she kept exclaiming, "Why did you only tell me now?"
