Today I'm sharing an honest review of Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch (고등어명품이되다 수원점), a grilled fish spot in Suwon where I had lunch with my husband.
Every time I passed by, the parking lot was huge and the place was always packed, so I'd been curious about it.

Is there a wait at lunchtime?

We got there after 1 pm and it was still busy. We registered through Catch Table (a reservation and waiting app), waited a little, and went in. If you go at mealtimes, remember to register for the wait ^^

What are the interior and window seats like?
The inside is spacious with a high ceiling, so it feels airy. The seats run along the windows on three sides, which gives a really open feeling, and honestly every seat looked good.
You eat while looking out the windows, so it never feels stuffy. The tables are spaced comfortably too, so it looked great for families with kids or for bringing your parents. There are plenty of baby chairs as well.

Next to the entrance there's a cafeteria where you can relax with a coffee after eating, and it's quite big, which gives you a sense of how large the restaurant is, haha.

What side dishes are at the self-serve bar?
The self-bar is big and generously stocked. The tables are arranged around it, so the spacing between seats is wide and comfortable. Size win!! haha

The self-bar has japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), cheongpomuk (mung bean jelly), chamnamul (water dropwort greens), radish namul, cucumber kimchi, young radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, doraji muchim (seasoned bellflower root) and more. Everything tasted good, and personally I liked that nothing was too salty, haha.

Basic side dishes and seaweed soup (miyeokguk)
After we ordered the Spanish mackerel and cutlassfish~~ the side dishes came out first, a generous spread with jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork), seasoned greens and even japchae, all neatly laid out. For my taste the japchae and the chamnamul salad were above average, so big praise from me, haha.

Seaweed soup comes too, which is great for eating with kids.

Just look at the huge Spanish mackerel and cutlassfish!! haha

A neat, full table is done~~~ so excited, haha
How did the grilled cutlassfish and Spanish mackerel taste?
The seasoning on the grilled cutlassfish was just right, which made me happy right away. Salty but not overdone, so a bowl of rice vanished in no time.

The grilled Spanish mackerel was nicely crisp outside and moist and rich inside, and suddenly I was eating faster, haha.

Both the Spanish mackerel and the cutlassfish were clean-tasting with no fishy smell, and the portions were huge, so we ate our fill. The salad bar is generous too!! It's a great place to come for a meal with the family.
Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch: final verdict
A big parking lot, an airy dining room, neat side dishes and good fish quality~~~ nothing was lacking at this Suwon grilled fish restaurant. I recommend it as a Homaesil-area favorite for family meals or taking your parents!!
It feels like a comfortable neighborhood restaurant you can drop into even on an ordinary day, which made me like it even more. Another hearty spread today, and we're off, haha.
