Sadang Station wine bar with doenjang clam stew and a baguette: Ui

I had such a satisfying time at Ui (우이), a bar near Sadang Station with amazing vibes and amazing food! It's great for going with a friend, and especially great for a date, the atmosphere is crazy good. And the food, pasta, gambas, clam soup, is just as good, so you get both birds with one stone 🤭

Ui Sadang Branch: location, hours, parking and corkage

Ui Sadang Branch is 3 minutes from Sadang Station (236 m), in the Sadang-dong food alley. It opens at 18:00 Monday to Friday and 17:00 on Saturday and Sunday, and stays open until 2 a.m.

• Paid parking available: first 60 minutes free, then ₩300 per 5 minutes

It's open from the evening until 2 a.m., and the first 60 minutes of parking are free. You can also bring your own bottle for a ₩30,000 corkage fee, whatever the drink.

What are the atmosphere and seating like at Ui Sadang Branch?

The exterior feels like you've landed in Europe, and inside there are dachi (bar-style) seats near the entrance and tables further in. I went at 10 p.m. on a weekend. It's classy enough for a blind date, an anniversary or a night out with friends.

If you sit at the bar you can watch the chef's fire show! And the owner is a hottie, hahaha.

The antique props really stood out. The interior is so pretty, a place you go for the vibes alone! The restroom is inside too, and it's super, super clean 👍

The signature dish at Ui Sadang Branch is the tomayro at ₩34,000, and there are recommended dishes like the clam doenjang soup (bongole doenjang sulijjim, steamed in doenjang and alcohol broth) at ₩20,000.

I hear the tomayro is tomato stew plus eggs in hell. From steamed-in-alcohol dishes to pasta, capellini and fries, there's a wide choice from mains to sides! They have every kind of drink, and since it specializes in wine, there are lots of wines too. A Sadang wine spot I can recommend!

What is the salted octopus capellini at Ui Sadang Branch?

I figured you might not know what capellini is, so I prepared a photo. It's a cold pasta made with octopus jeotgal, a unique dish only Ui has, so it might be worth a try!

Our weekend-night order: vongole doenjang stew, risotto and baguette

At Ui Sadang Branch I ordered the clam doenjang soup, the mozzarella tomato risotto and a baguette. It came to ₩47,000 in total.

The complimentary starter snack, kkoedori, is a total treat.

But what really blew my mind was the taste of the mains, T_T

How does the vongole doenjang stew taste?

The clam doenjang soup at Ui Sadang Branch has fresh, plump clams, tomato, a refreshing broth, and even sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes). Please, please try the clam soup.

It tasted insanely good. The broth is slightly spicy, and the clam stock is sooo deep and refreshing.

And the crazy kicker is that it's packed with sujebi!! I think it would work as a full meal too. It was really, truly delicious, my mouth is watering just thinking about it..

Mozzarella tomato risotto at Ui Sadang Branch

The mozzarella tomato risotto at Ui Sadang Branch is a slightly spicy risotto with seriously flavorful cheese. The clam soup was so good that I'd almost finished a whole pot before the risotto came, so I wondered if it could compete, and wow, this was so good too, haha. If you're Korean you'll definitely love this flavor.

Is the ₩3,000 baguette add-on worth it?

The baguette at Ui Sadang Branch is a ₩3,000 add-on, and it's not just a plain baguette, it comes spread with a special sauce! I added it because my appetite had kicked in, and come on, this was delicious too…

Dip it in the soup broth, then top it with the garlic tomato, and it's heaven!!! Please, please add the baguette. I recommend this combo like crazy!!

They say a chef trained in fine dining cooks with an aged special sauce, and honestly both the taste and the mood were amazing…!!! Loads of people were having a glass of wine with their food! For a blind date, go to Ui, no question, haha. Recommended!

Ui Sadang Branch review event

When I visited, Ui Sadang Branch gave a glass of Paulaner draft beer for joining the review event, and a plate of salad for turning on notifications! Be sure to claim them.

Come to think of it, isn't "Ui!" a catchphrase these days thanks to Ricenne's Won? Haha. Anyway, Ui in Sadang-dong was really, really delicious. If you like Western food, you absolutely have to go, please!! Definitely add a baguette to the clam soup. Taste score: five stars!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
