Charcoal cleansing balm for dry combination skin: HEEDA Jirisan
In short
HEEDA Jirisan Charcoal Cleansing Balm is a black cleansing balm I tried on dry, dehydrated combination skin in Korea. I used it around my nose twice a week and for heavy makeup; it melted smoothly and left my skin feeling moisturized, though this is only my personal impression.

Why did I choose a cleansing balm for dry, dehydrated combination skin?

In winter, my face felt tight even when I was doing nothing, and the dryness set in more quickly after washing my face. I usually used cleansing oil, but I often had breakouts, so I switched to a cleansing balm while looking for something gentler.

HEEDA Cleansing Balm is a black formula containing Jirisan charcoal. According to the original product description, it contains 15 naturally derived moisturizing ingredients, and I used it hoping for less tightness after cleansing.

What were the texture and applicator like?

There was a spatula inside the white-and-black packaging. I did not have to scoop it out with my hands, and it was convenient to store the spatula fitted inside the lid after use.

The balm looked solid, but it melted softly with my body heat when applied to my face. It was easy to scoop with the spatula, and I found it relatively smooth to massage over my skin.

How did it remove oil around my nose and heavy makeup?

I scooped out a small amount and massaged it around my nose, where I produce more sebum. I used it twice a week, like a nose pack.

I also tried it to remove heavy makeup and deeply colored lip products. After adding water to emulsify it and then washing my face, it seemed to rinse away well without residue, and it removed lip products for which I had not used a separate remover.

How did my skin feel after cleansing?

When I used cleansing oil, I sometimes felt that residue caused breakouts. After using this product, my breakouts seemed to calm down, and I had the impression that it suited even skin that felt sensitive without irritation. It was good to use when I wanted my skin to feel moisturized after cleansing.
