Why we chose Gildon for our wedding invitation party

I had a wedding invitation get-together at Gildon, a BBQ restaurant in Galma-dong, Daejeon!! It was 9 friends plus me and my boyfriend, so 11 people in total, and I'd been wondering where a group that big could eat comfortably. That's how I found Gildon, a Galma-dong meat spot.

People often hold these parties at Western-style restaurants, but everyone in our group chat said they wanted to eat meat together, so I went looking for a BBQ place that would work! If we had to grill the meat ourselves, it would be hard to talk,,, and we'd be worrying about who's grilling,,, Since this was an invitation party, I wanted everyone to eat comfortably, so I picked Gildon, where the staff grill for you! haha

For an invitation party you especially want to treat people well, right? I was worried about what I'd do if the meat wasn't good! But wow......... the meat was so delicious and everyone loved it!! My boyfriend was sitting next to me and he said it was so good too haha. My friends said so too lol, and the two of us sat there feeling proud lol. The staff grilled it for us, which made it even tastier haha, and the meat quality is great!! And so thick!!

I had reserved ahead, so everything was neatly ready. They open at 17:00 and we arrived at 17:00, so it felt like we'd rented the place!! At first it was only us!! haha Everyone was so happy to get their invitations, filming the two-line poems they wrote, saying thank you, reading the invitations over and over!! They loved it!! I had such a happy time. It was so good that my intro got long,,, let me introduce the place now!!

Gildon is open every day from 17:00 to 23:55, and last order is at 23:00.

It's a popular Galma-dong restaurant, so there can be a wait, and there are chairs in front of the restaurant for people waiting!

What we ordered for the 11-person party

My table ordered boneless flower pork belly, Iberico flower pork neck and aged kimchi stew! Each table ordered on its own, so I don't know the full order..! The four of us at my table ate something like 7 servings of the pork belly and pork neck lol. It was so good we kept ordering more!?

I totally recommend the kimchi stew too,,, it has meat in it!! The broth is so deep and really delicious~~

Gildon's interior and aged meat

The inside of Gildon is decorated like a hanok (traditional Korean house) and it's so pretty~~ haha The dishes were neatly set out too!!

The pork belly and pork neck are aging nicely in the fridge!!

What side dishes come at Gildon?

Gildon has a really wide range of side dishes! At your own spot there's galchi-sokjeot (salted cutlassfish guts), Himalayan salt and ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste), and vegetables like mukguk (chilled acorn jelly soup), salad and shredded scallion salad come out too~~ haha I eagerly ate the side dishes before the meat arrived!! haha

The mukguk has kimchi and ice in it like a slush, plus seaweed, so it's salty and refreshing at the same time!!

How do staff grill the flower pork belly and neck?

The color of the meat is amazing... The straight stripes are the pork belly, and the thick one with lots of red next to it is the pork neck! They sprinkle salt and pepper before grilling, so it's really good the moment it comes off the grill!!

A Galma-dong place that grills the meat for you is so great,,,,, they grilled it so well and so deliciously that we could eat comfortably!! Thanks to that, it was a proper invitation party!! Being able to eat comfortably made it so nice to talk with each other~ haha

They put the finished meat on a separate plate, so we didn't have to worry about whether it was cooked and just ate right away!! The meat is scored, so it cooks through to the middle!! haha Sometimes when you just grill it, the outside is cooked but the inside isn't, right? But with the scoring it gets golden all the way through~~ haha

The container for the finished meat has scallions in it, so we could eat the golden grilled scallions too!!

Best ways to eat Gildon's meat

It's so good with shredded scallion salad too!!

Is Gildon's aged kimchi stew worth ordering?

I totally recommend Gildon's aged kimchi stew!! Bubbling away!~ It has meat in it and the flavor is spicy and deep! A bowl of rice comes with it too! The rice disappears in no time,,, honestly you could finish the rice with just the kimchi stew,,,

Dipping the meat in ssamjang is delicious too!!

What is the Iberico flower pork neck like?

Gildon's Iberico flower pork neck definitely has less fat than the pork belly and is so tender,,, the juiciness is incredible,,, with every single bite the juices just flow!! It's thick but not tough, thick but tender!! haha

I really just kept eating lol. It was so good lol. We sat at three tables and everyone enjoyed it so much that I felt so proud haha

After the wedding invitation party

Hehe, we had a proper invitation party at Gildon!>< It was so nice to see everyone after so long and such a happy time haha. After the meat, we went to the Twosome Place next door for drinks and finished the conversations we hadn't gotten to!! See you all again at the wedding~~
