Looking for a grilled fish restaurant in Geoje to eat out with little ones?
Geojedo Grilled Fish & Ganjang Gejang (거제도생선구이.간장게장) is in Gohyeon, Geoje, and it sells exactly what the name says: grilled fish and soy-marinated crab (ganjang gejang). Whenever I visit a seaside area, I love going to a grilled fish place. The kids eat grilled fish well, and my husband and I love it too, so it's the first thing we think of at the coast. Geoje has a famous spot for it, so we slipped out of our resort for a visit 🐟

Is there a wait at 2 PM on a Saturday?

We went around 2 PM on a Saturday and there was still a wait. I assumed the lunch rush would be over and we could eat in peace, but with customers waiting ahead of us, I actually got more excited while we waited.
Why we chose the full-course set over the all-you-can-eat
Like its honest name, Geojedo Grilled Fish & Ganjang Gejang serves grilled fish and soy crab. There was a full-course all-you-can-eat option with unlimited grilled fish and crab, but I didn't think our family would eat that much. Still, I'd heard the crab is good too, so ordering only grilled fish felt like a bit of a shame.
So we ordered the full-course set, which lets you enjoy both grilled fish and crab ✔️ Ordering the set also includes the unlimited salad bar, so I was excited even before the main dishes arrived.
What's in the salad bar?

We looked around the salad bar included in the full-course set first, and the variety was much bigger than I expected.

There were lots of homemade side dishes, plus jeon (savory pancakes), sundae (Korean blood sausage), gogalbi (grilled mackerel), tofu kimchi, fritters and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), all ready to take.

My husband's top pick: scallop sauce
I filled a plate from the salad bar before the grilled fish and crab even arrived, and I was already a little full. Every side dish was delicious, so my husband was especially thrilled. His favorite was the pen shell scallop sauce (키조개 관자장) 👍🏻 It wasn't salty and suited our taste perfectly, great with rice.

How were the grilled fish and soy crab?
Here come the grilled fish and soy crab! My hand kept going back to the golden-brown grilled fish. I usually like side dishes more than rice, but with grilled fish I feel I could finish a whole bowl of rice and still want more.

The soy crab had great depth of flavor too. My husband already loves ganjang gejang, so I had just one and left the rest to him, and the crabs were really plump!

Will kids eat well here?
The table was packed with dishes, and with so many things kids can eat, Saessak and Banjjak (our two kids) dug in eagerly. Seaweed soup and gim (roasted seaweed) also come out, so the kids had a hearty meal.

Saessak ate happily, and whenever he wanted another side dish, I fetched it from the salad bar again, and Banjjak ate until her belly was round.

Ppeong-scream for dessert
After the meal, Geojedo Grilled Fish & Ganjang Gejang serves ppeong-scream as dessert: sweet strawberry ice cream between crispy puffed-rice crackers. It was fresh and sweet, perfect for cleansing the palate. Even after a big meal, dessert is its own thing 🍦 Eating plenty and finishing with dessert made the meal satisfying from start to end.
Worth going back to on a Geoje family trip?
Grilled fish and soy crab, a varied salad bar and dessert, that's Geojedo Grilled Fish & Ganjang Gejang. Not just the main dishes but the extras were varied, and the kids ate the grilled fish and side dishes well, so our whole family had a comfortable, satisfying meal. Everyone from kids to adults left full.
I could see why there was a wait even on a Saturday afternoon. Leaving the resort to come here on purpose was worth it! It's also a solid stop when you want a hearty meal on a trip. We'll definitely travel to Geoje again, and I'd like to come back then 🥣 If it were nearby, I'd go often whenever I craved grilled fish and soy crab.
