Wangsimni Station café for a train wait: Café Milk Bowl, Eojil In

In short

Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch is a two-floor café and dessert shop in Seongdong, Seoul, a 1-minute walk from Wangsimni Station Exit 6. On a hot day, the writer spent 30 minutes on the first floor of Eojil In waiting for a Gyeongui-Jungang Line train, with a Café Milk Bowl (ice cream latte, ₩6,900), an iced café latte (₩5,500) and Basque cheesecake (₩5,900). The writer took financiers and madeleines home and enjoyed them the next day with drip coffee. Eojil In is a good Wangsimni Station café for cooling off between trains with rich, milky drinks and dense Basque cheesecake.

Everyone keeps saying it's hot this week, like a million times! And it really is hot! So what do you crave even more in a sweltering summer? An ice cream latte!

How close is Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch to the station?

Eojil In (어질 인) in Wangsimni is a 1-minute walk from Wangsimni Station Exit 6, no joke! It's so close to the subway that it's a great spot for a coffee while you wait for your Gyeongui-Jungang Line train.

The entrance has the Chinese character 仁 ("in", as in the café's name) lit up, and isn't that just too cool?!

What's in the dessert display at Eojil In?

The display has baked goods like madeleines and financiers, chocolate cake, and the signature Basque cheesecake ("bachike" for short). A famous Wangsimni dessert café, so of course I couldn't skip dessert, right?! I also grabbed plenty of baked goods to have with drip coffee at home. I want to hoard every dessert I see! Is that normal?

My beloved madeleines and financiers, of course! And the chocolate cake looks gorgeous too! There's just so much I want to eat!

What did I order at Eojil In, and how much was it?

Eojil In is also famous for its Basque cheesecake, so that was a must! Here's what I ordered this time.

  • Café Milk Bowl ₩6,900
  • Iced café latte ₩5,500
  • Basque cheesecake ₩5,900
  • Classic financier ₩2,900
  • Vanilla madeleine ₩2,900

The dessert prices are so friendly that I caught myself adding more and more! After ordering, I took a quick lap around the shop.

Inside Eojil In: first- and second-floor seating

The inside of Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch is calm, decorated with wood and lighting. Since Basque cheesecake is the signature, they have an enormous amount of it ready!

The second floor was much bigger! But it was full of customers, so I only snapped a few quick corners. My train home on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line was about 30 minutes away, so I decided to eat in a hurry on the first floor!

The buzzer went off! A spread (?) that makes me happy just looking at it! The perfect order for someone who loves both iced café lattes and ice cream!

Look at how adorably small the Basque cheesecake came out in the photo! A perfect size for two to share! I packed the financiers and madeleines to go and had them the next day at home with drip coffee I brewed myself (so good!).

A famous Wangsimni dessert café, and every single dessert is one I love! It's near a university area, so prices are friendly too! And best of all!

What does the Café Milk Bowl (ice cream latte) at Eojil In taste like?

The Café Milk Bowl at Eojil In (₩6,900) is an ice cream latte with a seriously generous amount of ice cream. Enough that sharing between two still feels satisfying! I heard it's made with the Sangha Farm organic milk ice cream that Paul Bassett and Baekmidang use, plus espresso and milk!

Not too sweet, with a rich milky flavor and nuttiness that stood out! I highly recommend the Café Milk Bowl at Eojil In! Whenever I see an ice cream latte at a café these days, I always order it! It's the signature drink of summer, isn't it? (Okay, I totally made that up.)

The iced café latte at Eojil In (₩5,500) is rich and nutty. I usually prefer a deep, toasty latte and this was exactly that! Now I'm curious about their Americano too!

Plump classic financiers and madeleines! I only tasted the little end bits before packing them up. I love a zesty lemon madeleine, and this one was sweet-tart and delicious!

What's the texture of Eojil In's signature Basque cheesecake?

One bite of the Basque cheesecake!

The Basque cheesecake at Eojil In (₩5,900) is their signature, made with Philadelphia cream cheese and dairy whipping cream! Cheesecake is always a yes! So good!

Moist yet dense and thick! My favorite texture! Cheesecake and tiramisu are my top picks usually, and Eojil In's Basque cheesecake is totally my style!

You can take the Basque cheesecake to go by the slice or as a whole cake! I was torn between it and the matcha one, so next time I'll try matcha!

Verdict: Eojil In as a subway-wait stop

It was too hot before heading to the subway, so I checked the train schedule and ducked into Eojil In. I got a lovely cool rest! Is it already the season when a handheld fan is a must? I hate summer so much!
