Family-friendly café in Ulju, Ulsan: MUG with changing facilities

Why did I visit MUG with my baby?

When I go out with my baby, I look for cafés with a changing table. I was curious about the space at MUG (카페 먹) in Ulju, Ulsan, and heard that it had a changing table, so I visited with my baby.

I was struck by the story that the café was built on land where landscaping trees had been grown for more than 20 years after it was damaged by a wildfire. The location felt remote, but when I arrived, the scale was apparent from the entrance.

Where is MUG café?

The address is 90 Hyangsan-dagae-ro, Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan, South Korea. The hours listed in the original post were daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

There was an area in front of the café that looked like a pond, and both the outdoor area and the entrance were spacious. I heard that bubble shows are also held outdoors on weekends.

What are the indoor seats and child visits like?

MUG is a kids care zone. Guardians visiting with children need to actively supervise them. An exhibition room was the first thing I saw on entering, followed by a large indoor space. At the time of my visit, there was a notice for the invitational exhibition “Between Stopovers,” held throughout September.

By the windows were seats that looked comfortable for two people to sit and talk. They were all occupied when we arrived, so I took the photos after we had finished eating and were about to leave. Upstairs, there was another space as well.

What bakery items and signature drinks are available?

The bakery selection included apple cinnamon, blueberry cream cheese, and lemon cream cheese cinnamon rolls; vegetable ciabatta; pea sweet-bean-paste bread; squid-ink chestnut red-bean bread; and squid-ink sausage bread. White rolls, real corn bread, pie manju (pie pastry), chestnut cheesecake, and Lamington cake were also introduced, but I was disappointed that very few varieties remained when I visited.

The signature drinks included MUG Black Latte, MUG Lemon Smoothie, and MUG Lemon Ade.

How were the chestnut cheesecake and MUG Black Latte?

We ordered chestnut cheesecake, a decaffeinated Americano, and a MUG Black Latte.

I was told that the black part of the MUG Black Latte was cold brew. It tasted like an iced latte with sweet syrup.

Personally, the chestnut cheesecake suited my taste. Chestnut flavor was added to the cheesecake, and the two flavors worked well together. It was something I would want to order again on another visit.

Was it convenient for changing diapers and feeding baby food?

My baby’s diaper became full, so I immediately looked for the nursing room. It had a changing table and a sink beside it, which was convenient. There was also a microwave in the café, so I could feed my baby food.

We also walked around the café’s surroundings with the baby. I was disappointed by the limited bread selection at the time, but the facilities needed for diaper changes and feeding baby food made it comfortable to spend time there with my baby.
