Finding Cheongchuni Oranda at Jeju Dongmun Market
I came to Jeju on vacation, and I was really agonizing over gifts for friends and coworkers. I wanted something tasty but not too bulky, and there was so much to think about—then I spotted this amazing oranda place at Dongmun Market! Let me introduce it to you 😉
Cheongchuni Oranda (청춘이오란다) Dongmun Market Main Branch, Tapdong

Dongmun Market is bustling every time I visit 😨 As you stroll along with the crowd, there is one especially packed stretch—and that is Cheongchuni Oranda!!

It is also considered one of the good eats at Jeju Dongmun Market, with a wide range of oranda and gwajul (traditional Korean puffed-grain snacks). It is close to Gates 2 and 9, so it is easy to find while browsing around the market!

I thought choosing would be difficult because there were so many kinds, but I was amazed that the owner so generously cut up tasting portions so I could try every variety of oranda and gwajul 😮

Oranda and gwajul varieties
🍪 Large oranda ₩3,500–₩4,000 They are about 14–15 cm across, but cut into nine pieces, so they are easy to eat. Cheongchuni Oranda has five flavors: tangerine-chip yuzu, manong (garlic), gamtae (seaweed), mixed nuts, and Udo peanut. They are handmade with Jeju ingredients, rice syrup, and corn syrup.

Buy three large oranda for ₩10,000–₩11,000, but honestly, every flavor is good, so picking only three is hard 🥹

🎁 Oranda gift set ₩23,000 The gift set contains individually wrapped, easy-to-eat pieces: five of each of four flavors. It really is perfect for gifting.

When you buy an oranda set, the owner folds the box right then and packs in the individually wrapped oranda. I will show you the details below!

If you want a big quantity, stock up on a bag of these large oranda like this.

Want to try an unusual kind of oranda? I also recommend the donut-shaped oranda in different flavors.

And these are the newly released puffed-rice gwajul, in four flavors: steamed rice, buckwheat, brown rice, and white rice. I sampled them, and they were crisp, light, and delicious.

They are about 13 cm in diameter and come in a bulk pack with about 12 pieces mixed across all four flavors. I recommend them if you like puffed snacks!

Cheongchuni Oranda sticks to making everything the same day. It feels like the owner’s commitment to providing fresh, high-quality oranda. You can actually watch them making oranda behind the counter!

Back at my accommodation, I picked gamtae oranda as a beer snack! The gamtae and oranda went so well together that I finished it in no time and opened another flavor.. 😭😭 I just kept reaching for more, and more..
What is in the oranda gift set?

The character illustrations on the package are so cute for a gift 😆

There are 20 oranda in total, with five packets of each flavor.

The set has four flavors: tangerine-chip yuzu, manong (garlic), gamtae, and mixed nuts.

They are a nice size to open and eat one at a time. The best-before date is generously about a month away, so you can enjoy them over a long time; for long-term storage, you can freeze them.
Comparing the four oranda flavors

Let’s compare the four flavors in the set! The yuzu flavor is coated in yuzu marmalade and has tangerine chips. Manong (garlic) tastes like rich garlic baguette, and it is better than I expected! Gamtae tastes like eating it with unseasoned, nutty seaweed. The mixed-nut flavor has five kinds of nuts, so it is wonderfully nutty.
Cheongchuni Oranda is delicious because it is not overly sticky—the individual grains are loose enough to separate, making it easy to eat.

It is pleasantly crisp, and I never got tired of it even as I kept eating.. 🤤
Oranda storage and best-before date

For storage, in cool weather like this, keep the oranda at room temperature somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight! If you put it in the refrigerator, take it out 30 minutes before eating.

Oranda can be stored for up to 14 days at room temperature, or up to 30 days frozen. If you are looking for a Jeju snack to give friends or coworkers, I absolutely recommend the delicious oranda at Cheongchuni Oranda in Jeju Dongmun Market!!
A Jeju travel gift chosen after tasting it myself
You can see everything, sample lots of varieties, and buy at the Dongmun Market main branch, so I think it is a gift you cannot go wrong with! I used to think of oranda as an old-fashioned snack that was hard, sticky, and stuck to your teeth, but Cheongchuni Oranda completely made me forget that prejudice with its flavor and texture 😮
That is why I think it is a snack anyone, young or old, can enjoy, and I highly, highly recommend it as a Jeju travel gift 👍🏻 My personal flavor picks are gamtae and manong (garlic). Both were great with beer, and the garlic flavor was so delicious—it had a rich aroma and really tasted like garlic bread 🙌🏻
