Gang Galbitang Seomyeon is a galbitang (beef short rib soup) and galbi-gukbap specialist on Saessak-ro near Seomyeon Station in Busanjin, Busan. A couple ordered one basic galbitang and one spicy galbitang, picked the ribs clean, helped themselves to the self-bar side dishes, and finished with mix coffee from the dessert corner; a sign on every table offers a Korean-made hand cream for a receipt photo review. Between the clear broth, the spicy bowl with three heat levels and the free extras, Gang Galbitang is an easy, filling meal in Seomyeon.

Bueokgan Haeundae Branch is a pasta and wood-fired pizza restaurant on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan. On a weekend visit with his wife and younger daughter, the writer ordered from the table tablet — carbonara ₩19,000, jambon pizza ₩24,000 and grapefruit ade ₩6,500 — for a total of ₩49,500 for three. Between the window-side round sofa seats and a tablet that shows every photo and price, Bueokgan made a family meal out with a child easy.

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a Chinese restaurant on Dalmaji-gil 117beon-na-gil in Haeundae, Busan. After a first stop there for a business meeting, the writer came back on the weekend with his wife and second child for chili jjajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce), beef brisket jjamppong and sweet and sour pork in one spread. Bueokgan Chinese handles a formal client lunch and a relaxed family meal equally well.
