Following my nose wherever the good food is, I'm Jjangdol. 🔨 Today I visited Samcheok Bomulseom, a bar right on the Samcheok coast. It's known for its floor-to-ceiling ocean view facing Chuam Beach and a solid seafood omakase for just ₩30,000 a person. Here's an honest breakdown of the view and the food. Starting with a 3-second summary!

Jjangdol's 3-second summary

Location and atmosphere: right across from Jeungsan Beach

Right in front of the store, Chuam Beach and Jeungsan Beach's sand stretch out at your feet. It's an easy stroll from Sol Beach, so accessibility is great.
The exterior stands out with modern stone walls and a clean sign. It's on the first floor of the building, so you can't miss it while walking the beachfront path.
Step inside and stylish patterned tile floors plus soft rattan lighting create a cozy mood. The window seats and main hall were already lively with guests looking for a good bar near Sol Beach Samcheok.
This place's biggest weapon is the floor-to-ceiling ocean view. Sit by the window and the sea and sand hang there like a framed picture — you feel a little drunk on the view before the first drink.

The ₩30,000 Treasure Island omakase: ordering and drinks
I ordered the signature Treasure Island omakase (₩30,000 per person) for two. Checking the drinks menu, beyond basic soju and beer they also carry Goheung yuja wine, wine, and sake — plenty of variety for drinkers.

Complimentary kimchi pancake
As soon as we sat down, a kimchi pancake (kimchijeon) arrived as a complimentary side. The edges came out cracker-crisp, and one bite told me this place's basic cooking skills were the real deal. The tangy, well-fermented kimchi made it a perfect appetizer to whet the appetite.

Spicy anglerfish stew (agujjim)
Next up was the anglerfish stew, good enough in seafood quality to stand as its own dish. This place runs its own tank, and the mussels, blue crab, and anglerfish freshness really showed. The anglerfish meat I picked up with my chopsticks was moist and tender, not dry at all. The spicy, tangy sauce soaked well into the bean sprouts — a plate worthy of a good bar near Sol Beach Samcheok, perfect with soju.

Boiled pork bossam
Next came the boiled pork bossam. The pork was boiled thoroughly with no off smell, giving it a nice soft texture. Wrapping a piece of pork with garlic and ssamjang in lettuce made for a satisfying bite!

Spicy pork kimchi tofu and abalone-innards butter fried rice
And the stars closing out the night: spicy pork kimchi tofu and abalone-innards butter fried rice. The abalone fried rice, served sizzling on a hot plate, was hands down the best dish. The rich, savory butter coated every grain of rice, and mixing in the innards sauce from the abalone shell with the chewy abalone meat sent the umami through the roof… Paired with the sweet-and-spicy pork stir-fry and warm kimchi tofu, it was a perfect final course and drinking snack.
(※ Side note: the course is supposed to include doenjang stew, but I later realized the staff forgot to bring it out! If you visit, keep in mind the menu is originally supposed to include doenjang stew.)
Jjangdol's final guide — honest review and practical tips
Honest review: ₩30,000 a person felt just right for a course that included anglerfish stew, bossam, and abalone fried rice — great composition and value. Between the floor-to-ceiling ocean view and fresh seafood snacks alone, this was a bar near Sol Beach Samcheok worth every won.
- Parking tip: There's parking right in front, but it's limited, so use the public parking lot at Jeungsan Beach 40m away and walk over. (Sol Beach guests, walking is recommended.)
- Best visit time: Come 30 minutes before sunset (around 6:00–6:30 PM) to catch both the red sunset and the night view through the floor-to-ceiling window.
- Note: In the evening, this is run as a bar where ordering alcohol is required, so keep that in mind if you're just looking for a simple meal.
