Samcheok seafood omakase lunch at Samcheok Bomulseom
In short
Samcheok Bomulseom is a seafood omakase restaurant on the coast of Samcheok, Gangwon. We ordered lunch omakase for two at 25,000 won per person and enjoyed kimchi pancakes, steamed seafood, soy-marinated crab, and abalone innards fried rice with an ocean view. Verdict: a generous, good-value seafood meal by the bright East Sea.

Ocean views and lunch omakase at Samcheok Bomulseom
On this East Coast trip, I was in Mukho when I heard there was an omakase spot with a great view, so I headed over to Samcheok! It sits right by the shore with a gorgeous ocean view in front of you, and although it is omakase, the price was great value too.

Let me introduce today's Samcheok restaurant pick, Samcheok Bomulseom!
A Samcheok restaurant pick: Samcheok Bomulseom

The weather was pretty great last weekend! The blue sky and blue sea were both so clear. It was a little windy... haha. But from indoors, it felt incredibly peaceful!
We grabbed a prime seat further inside! The atmosphere was so nice... The wide-open ocean view looked perfect for a date. Seafood omakase with drinks in the evening would be lovely too, but eating while taking in the pretty sea view during the day was great as well!

There were restrooms inside the restaurant too! Separate men's and women's restrooms.

Ordering lunch omakase for two
Disposable aprons were set out along one wall, and the fish tank and napkins at each table were neatly arranged. We ordered Samcheok Bomulseom's lunch omakase for two! It was ₩25,000 per person, ₩50,000 total!

Right after ordering, soybean paste stew, crispy kimchi pancake, and suyuk (boiled pork slices) arrived!

Next came a delicious-looking steamed seafood platter and soy-marinated crab, which I absolutely love.

I took one full-table shot of everything so far... Then, thinking that might be it, I asked the owner, “Is there anything else coming...?” They smiled and brought over the next dishes...

Right away: soy-sauce stir-fried pork, tofu kimchi, and even abalone innards fried rice, which you could call the main event!

A generous spread and seafood dishes
Wow... What a seriously generous spread. Could we finish all this...? We had come straight here after arriving and were pretty hungry, so we decided to dig in right away.
I started with the kimchi pancake, meat, and tofu kimchi. The kimchi pancake was slightly thick yet wonderfully crisp—so delicious! Pancakes really have to be crispy... so good. And meat with tofu kimchi, what more is there to say? Such a great combination!
Next was the tender suyuk! And the most important kick here was that fresh geotjeori (lightly seasoned fresh kimchi). It was made in-house and seriously delicious... I also loved that care had clearly gone into every single side dish.

Complimentary steamed seafood
Next was the steamed seafood! This was complimentary, and it was packed with seafood. There were scallops, mussels, abalone, shrimp, and crab, all in generously sized pieces! The lightly spicy seasoning was seriously delicious too, haha.

Soy-marinated crab and abalone innards fried rice
Next, soy-marinated crab! For a soy-marinated-crab fanatic like me, it was a heavenly sight. It was packed with meat and so, so tasty! The seasoning was just right too.

I mixed rice into the crab shell roe and scraped up every last bite!

And then, the long-awaited abalone innards fried rice!! Wow... It had abalone innards and octopus in it, topped with sliced grilled abalone. The abalone shell also held a sauce made with abalone innards, and it was incredibly rich, nutty, and delicious! Dip the abalone lightly in the sauce and put it on top of the rice, and you get this nutty, intense flavor that keeps you reaching back in. Such an appetite-whetting taste!!
Samcheok Bomulseom is a place where you can enjoy delicious seafood omakase at great value with the beautiful East Sea as your backdrop! I recommend coming for a delicious meal with a bright ocean view at lunch, or for flavorful seafood omakase with drinks in the evening.
