Paldang pizza and pasta restaurant with surf videos upstairs: Pibing

I went on a drive near Paldang and stumbled into such a satisfying restaurant that I had to bring you the review! It's been hard lately to find a pizza and pasta place with both great vibes and great taste, but this spot gave me one of the most satisfying meals I've had in a while. It's such a perfect date course that I have to recommend it right away!

What is Pibing Paldang Branch? The Pibing from Yangyang

Pibing Paldang Branch is a pizza and pasta restaurant occupying the 1st and 2nd floors at 159 Paldang-ro, Wabu-eup, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. A lot of people drive out to Namyangju on weekends or weekdays, right? I went out for a drive myself to change my mood, and heard there was a great pizza place near Paldang — that's how I found Pibing Paldang Branch.

Some of you might recognize the name Pibing — and yes, it's that famous Pibing with a branch in Yangyang, Gangwon-do! I used to visit often when I went to Yangyang, so I was so happy to find it in Paldang too! As soon as I walked in, the trendy, breezy interior caught my eye. The first floor was selling surfboards and goods.

The weekday couple set and what we ordered

We visited on a weekday, so we ordered the value-for-money weekday couple set. The set includes a choice of one pizza, one pasta, and two drinks. We chose the Como Estar pizza, the truffle mushroom cream pasta, and zero-sugar Dr Pepper with a cola.

The mood upstairs, eating while watching a surfing video

We went up to the second floor to eat. There's a big screen installed on one side of the second-floor space, and it kept playing surfing footage. Watching waves being cut through while eating seemed to wash away the heat, and the whole atmosphere felt so refreshing and cool that I stayed in a good mood the entire time.

The taste of Como Estar pizza, piled high with cilantro

Let me start with the main dish, the pizza. This place really looked the part of a proper Paldang pizza specialist, distinctive from the moment you saw it. The Como Estar pizza we chose is an unusual pizza topped generously with cilantro. The second I saw cilantro in the menu description, there was no way I wasn't ordering it — cilantro lover here!!!

You know how pizza can get a little greasy toward the end? Well, thanks to the cilantro, the whole flavor profile of the pizza was completely different. That distinctive cilantro aroma blended with the savoriness of the cheese and dough, making it feel far fresher and cleaner. I could enjoy it all the way to the last slice without it ever feeling heavy. If you love cilantro, this is a must-try specialty.

Truffle mushroom cream pasta — the noodles were different from the start

And the pasta that came with the pizza was also a complete hit. Search for Paldang pasta restaurants and countless places pop up, but Pibing's truffle mushroom cream pasta stood out from the noodles alone. Instead of regular spaghetti noodles, they use wide, curly-shaped noodles, and the chew was so satisfying. Rich cream sauce soaked into every crevice of the noodles, so each bite delivered a burst of flavor. On top of that, a luxurious truffle aroma brushed past my nose, and the truffle scent paired perfectly with the savoriness of the button mushrooms. This was genuinely the best pasta I've had in Paldang recently...

Drinks: zero-sugar Dr Pepper and cola

Picking the right drink to go with good food matters too. The set lets you choose two drinks, and we went with zero-sugar Dr Pepper and cola. A lot of people are into zero-sugar drinks these days, and I loved that they even stock zero-sugar Dr Pepper — nice touch.

Good for a date, or better for a family outing?

Pibing Paldang Branch is a perfect spot to enjoy good food with your significant other in a cozy setting. Between the view outside the window, the cool surfing video inside, and the tasty specialty menu, it's a great place to set the mood. It also felt like a really good spot for families to stop by on a weekend drive-cum-outing, since the space is spacious and comfortable.
