A visit to a cozy café I dropped into while out on a work errand in Wangsimni.

I was out near Wangsimni for work not long ago and ended up with an awkward hour or so before my next meeting. I wanted to tidy up my laptop and get a cold shot of caffeine, so I hurriedly searched for a famous Wangsimni dessert café and landed at Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch (어질 인 왕십리역점), right next to the subway station.
Where is Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch, and is there parking?
Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch is straight ahead on the left as soon as you come out of Exit 6 of Wangsimni Station, so access is excellent. It takes less than a minute on foot, which makes it perfect for a quick stop during errands like mine, or when you don't want to travel far.

It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., with last order at 10 p.m., 30 minutes before closing. For parking, I'd recommend taking public transport or using the nearby E-Mart parking lot.
Big windows and partitioned seats at Eojil In: good for solo visits

The first floor has huge windows that let in soft sunlight, so my first impression on stepping in was bright and calm. The warmth of the wood-tone interior put me at ease. When I went up the stairs to the second floor, the space was much bigger than I expected.

Partition walls and stairs are used cleverly to divide the tables, so I could stay comfortably without feeling watched. It was a weekday afternoon and still quite full, but the seats are well separated, so it was a very pleasant place to read or work on my own.
Eojil In bakery and drink menu: what does it cost?

The display at the counter was packed with bakery items, from Dojima roll (a soft, sponge-cake-like roll cake) to all kinds of financiers, madeleines and egg tarts. They say a professional pâtissier bakes them fresh every day.

On the drink menu, besides the Americano (₩5,000) and latte (₩5,500), there were signature Café Milk Bowls, Einspänner and a variety of ades. Americanos and lattes also get ₩2,000 off when you take them out.
After some deliberation, I ordered an iced Americano, Eojil In's signature dessert, the Basque cheesecake (₩5,900), and a cream cheese financier (₩3,800).
How do the signature Basque cheesecake and cream cheese financier taste?

My drink and desserts came out on a hefty tray. The signature Basque cheesecake, the one I was most looking forward to, is said to combine Philadelphia cream cheese with animal-based fresh cream, and the moment I broke off a piece with my fork I could feel its dense softness.

It melted away as soon as it hit my mouth, and rather than just being sweet, the savory, rich flavor of cheese lingered on my tongue. The pleasantly bitter, nicely caramelized top (not burnt) and the milky softness inside were perfectly balanced.

Next was the cream cheese financier (a small French almond-butter cake). The outside was baked crisp with a satisfying crunch when I bit in, while the inside was properly chewy. With every bite, the nutty butter aroma and the soft, slightly salty cream cheese filled my mouth in good balance.

Iced Americano made with house-roasted beans
The iced Americano reportedly uses beans roasted in-house with over 20 years of know-how. It was on the acidic side, and it went well alongside sweet baked treats like the rich Basque cheesecake and the financier.
Verdict and tips: grab a second-floor seat first

Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch ticks all three boxes: easy access from the station, a warm wood-tone atmosphere, and high-quality coffee and desserts. It is a solid bakery café near Wangsimni Station.

It was only a short gap in my work day, but I got a perfect rest with sweet desserts in a comfortable seat, and I was very happy with it. The 2nd floor is popular and fills up quickly, so when you arrive I'd suggest claiming a seat upstairs first and then ordering on the 1st floor.
