Hi, it's Minddo! No trip to Gangneung is complete without sashimi (raw fish)!! We wanted to play at the beach during the day and relax at our accommodation in the evening with sashimi, so we looked for a place in Jumunjin that does sashimi takeout and ended up at Minja Hoetjip (민자횟집). Here's my review!
Minja Hoetjip's location, hours and parking
Minja Hoetjip is at 3-3 Sijang 2-gil, Jumunjin-eup, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, inside Jumunjin Fish Market. Hours are Mon–Sun 08:00–21:00, closed on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.

Among the many sashimi restaurants in Jumunjin, we visited Minja Hoetjip, located right inside Jumunjin Fish Market. Bottom line first: we got the ₩60,000 mixed sashimi platter and it came with so many varieties and such a generous amount that we were genuinely moved the second we opened it up!!
Easy to find, right near the market entrance

Minja Hoetjip is right near the entrance of Jumunjin Fish Market, so we found it easily without wandering around too long. If you're coming by car, the Jumunjin Coastal Parking Tower nearby seems pretty convenient too haha. We ordered the ₩60,000 mixed sashimi platter!
Inside the restaurant and the fish tanks

For travelers like us looking for a good Jumunjin sashimi takeout spot to enjoy comfortably back at the accommodation, this location was great — you can browse the market and get your sashimi takeout in one go!! Inside, there were various table sizes starting from 4-person tables. It looked like a good spot for family gatherings or group visits too!
When picking a sashimi restaurant, I tend to pay close attention to the state of the fish tanks out front!! The water in Minja Hoetjip's tanks was relatively clear and everything was kept pretty clean overall! There was also a wide variety of seafood inside the tanks!!
The ₩60,000 mixed platter: six types of fish

Ta-da!!!!!!!! When we opened the takeout box at the accommodation, we were genuinely shocked — instead of just one or two types repeated, it came with a full six types of sashimi including salmon, mackerel and flounder...

Being able to pick from several types of fish on one plate made eating so much more fun, and comparing the different textures and flavors of each fish was fun too!! Usually mixed platters lean heavily on flounder and rockfish, but this one also had mackerel and salmon, which made the whole spread feel so much more generous haha. ₩60,000 didn't feel expensive at all for this Jumunjin sashimi takeout haha.

Sea squirt and abalone, plus sauce and vegetables
The mixed platter alone was already generous, but they also included seafood to enjoy alongside the sashimi ㅠㅠ Is this really all part of the ₩60,000 set ㅠㅠ And Minja Hoetjip also packed basic sauce and side vegetables to eat with the sashimi, so as soon as we got to the accommodation, we could just lay everything out and dig in right away!!!!
The sea squirt they included had an incredible ocean aroma, and the abalone was really fresh...

Truly fresh in every sense — my mom ate it so happily,, she's a seafood killer,,
How did the flounder, mackerel and salmon taste?

The flounder had a clean flavor with a nice chewy texture, and the fin part — you all know that nutty flavor right?............. once you try it, it's hard to eat just one piece ㅠ

Mackerel sashimi can easily get fishy if it's not fresh enough, right?!? But the mackerel we had that day had zero fishy taste — it was nutty and soft.

The slices weren't cut too thin either — just the right thickness, so the chewy texture really came through ㅠㅠ

And the salmon — honestly I have no words,, so soft,,
Wrapping up: Jumunjin sashimi takeout at Minja Hoetjip
Minja Hoetjip, my recommendation for Jumunjin sashimi takeout, was genuinely moving. How can they offer this much variety for a ₩60,000 mixed platter,, something unimaginable in Seoul ㅠ Anyway, thanks to this place we got to have such a good meal!! And that's how our vacation wrapped up,,
