Quiet drinks at Momo, a Dangu-dong Japanese bar in Wonju
In short
Momo (모모) is a Japanese-style bar in Dangu-dong, Wonju, with a calm setting for drinks and shareable bar food. I shared seafood cheese tteokbokki and chicken karaage with a friend while catching up slowly. For a relaxed, not-too-loud night out, Momo is a great fit.

Momo for a quiet drink in Dangu-dong, Wonju
The day I decided to meet a friend for a drink after such a long time 🍶 Instead of a loud bar, we were looking for somewhere we could comfortably chat while having tasty bar snacks one by one, so we visited Momo, a Japanese-style bar in Dangu-dong, Wonju.
Food matters when choosing a bar, of course, but personally I also care quite a lot about the atmosphere and whether it is a good place to talk. The overall mood was calm enough that I would come back, so it suited having a drink while chatting with a friend.
Momo, a Japanese-style bar in Dangu-dong, Wonju

This Japanese-style bar in Dangu-dong, Wonju, is great for enjoying a drink with a wide variety of bar snacks. It is set just a little away from the main street where bars are clustered, so I recommend Momo if you prefer a quiet atmosphere.
A calm interior that made it even better

A quiet atmosphere was important to me when looking for a Japanese-style bar in Wonju, and Momo has that calm feeling. It was lovely to sit across from my friend, talk about this and that, and spend time together.

There are private rooms too, if you would like to spend time more privately. It would work well for a casual drink on a date or a visit with one friend.

Especially if you sit by the window, there are cute little models (?) right beside you, which somehow give the space an exotic feel.

By the way, there is a thoughtful touch from the owner in the restroom ✨️
Momo's menu and aged sashimi I want to try next time

There were more menu items than I expected. After wondering what to order, I chose two snacks that suited my simple, kid-like tastes.
Momo is said to have especially fresh seafood, including aged sashimi and sashimi! I will have to order the aged sashimi next time. The karaage looked so good that day, so that is what I ordered, but other dishes besides the aged sashimi and sashimi also get good reviews.
Seafood cheese tteokbokki and chicken karaage

The complimentary side dishes and the main dishes we ordered arrived.

The atmosphere is so nice, right? I think this is the best seat 👍🏻 It even feels as though you are in a forest, and I thought they had created the mood really well.

I ordered seafood cheese tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes) and chicken karaage. One was spicy with cheese, while the other was crisp and satisfying, so they were nice to alternate as snacks with drinks.

The outside was fried crisp while the inside stayed moist. Another plus was that the pieces were easy to eat in one bite. Rather than something extravagant, I think of it as one of those classic snacks that are easy to share!

I really love tteokbokki. This had exactly the kind of sauce flavor I like. The chewy rice cakes were well coated in the sauce, and eating them with the cheese gave them a rich, savory flavor.
