Hoengseong Hanu Jeongyukjeom is a Hanwoo butcher shop in Hoengseong, Gangwon. I picked chuck flap tail and yukhoe for a charcoal barbecue at a pension, and the juicy, nutty beef was a real treat. Verdict: a lovely stop for holiday gifts or a special meal for your parents.

Jo Hui-tak Coffee is a spacious dessert café near Ajou University in Suwon, Gyeonggi. I had peach fruit sando and an iced Americano, then got some things done alone at the shared table. Verdict: the fruit and rich milk cream are a combination I keep thinking about.
