Bulgogi jjambbong at a Godeok, Pyeongtaek Chinese restaurant: Jangsu
In short
Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom is a neighborhood Chinese restaurant on Godeokbuk-ro in Godeok, Pyeongtaek, specializing in jjambbong (spicy noodle soup), jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). A large Gobul jjambbong, a large jjajangmyeon and a small sirloin tangsuyuk came to ₩39,000; the bulgogi-loaded Gobul jjambbong stood out most, while the tangsuyuk arrives with the sauce already poured on, so dippers should ask ahead. Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom is a good pick in Godeok for anyone after an unusual jjambbong and for family meals with young children.

The parking lot is really big, so parking was super easy. The restaurant is spacious and pleasant, so it seems great for family meals, dining with your parents, or getting together with friends.

Recommended menu: Gobul jjambbong

What does Gobul jjambbong (bulgogi jjambbong) taste like?
The most memorable dish at Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom was the Gobul jjambbong (bulgogi jjambbong). Unlike regular jjambbong, it's piled with bulgogi (marinated beef), so it grabs your eyes right away!!! The moment it arrived I thought, "Wow, I have to try this." It looks that appetizing.
The broth is spicy, with the sweet flavor of bulgogi added, so it has a different charm from ordinary jjambbong. You can faintly taste a smoky wok flavor too, and the more spoonfuls I took, the more I kept going back. The amount of meat is no joke!!!!

It's an unusual dish you don't come across often, so I was extra excited, and one bite told me why it's popular. The bulgogi wasn't tough but tender, great with the noodles, and it's generous enough to be a filling meal on its own.
It's a dish that jjambbong lovers and meat lovers alike will enjoy, hahahahaha. I'd order it again next time, and it's my pick at Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom! I especially recommend it if you're tired of ordinary jjambbong.

Large jjajangmyeon: classic and not too sweet
The jjajangmyeon at Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom (large portion, ₩10,000) is a plain, mild classic that isn't overly sweet. For jjambbong I like hearty ones, like meat or seafood jjambbong, but for jjajangmyeon I like the basic kind best. The noodles were springy and topped with plenty of glossy sauce, so it looked delicious just sitting there.

I mixed the noodles and sauce together and took a bite: not too sweet, just clean and mild. It's true to the basics without being heavy-handed, so kids and adults can both enjoy it, and it's perfect for ordering alongside jjambbong and sharing. It felt like a proper old-school jjajangmyeon I hadn't had in a while!

Small sirloin tangsuyuk comes with the sauce poured on
The sirloin tangsuyuk (small, ₩15,000) at Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom comes with the sauce already poured over it, so if you're a dip-first (jjikmeok) person, tell them when you order. The tangsuyuk I ordered with the noodles was a big hit too! Freshly fried, it looked so crispy just sitting there!
From the first bite, the crispy coating and juicy meat went together beautifully. The batter wasn't too thick, so it was easy to eat, and the meat was tender with no gamey smell, the kind of taste anyone, young or old, would like.
The sweet and sour sauce wasn't overpowering either, so it didn't spoil the tangsuyuk's own flavor, and eating it with the jjambbong was a perfect match, hahahaha. The tangsuyuk satisfied me as much as the main dishes! I recommend it as a side with your meal. With jjambbong and jjajangmyeon, tangsuyuk is a must!
I'm a dip-first person, but mine came with the sauce poured on. If you're the same, I think you should let them know in advance, hehe. Godeok Chinese restaurant Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom, highly recommended!
