For when skipping it feels like a waste but it's not exactly a special anniversary! When you still want some atmosphere but a top-end restaurant feels like too much! When you're not officially together yet, just in the "some" stage! For those times, here's my review of Someday Romance, a no-pressure date spot and brunch favorite in Dunsan-dong!!!

Where is Someday Romance, and what are the hours and parking?

Someday Romance is on the 6th floor of Savezone in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon (201 Dunsan-ro). It's open 10:30am to 9pm (last order 8:10pm) and closed every Monday. For parking, use Savezone's ground-level (1F) or basement 3–4 lots, and 3 hours are covered.

Free weekday morning drink with brunch

On weekdays between 10:30 and 11:00, anyone who orders brunch gets one free americano, drink or tea per person! Perfect for brunch after dropping the kids off at school or daycare, right? haha

What are Someday Romance's exterior and atmosphere like?

Someday Romance is on the 6th floor of Savezone, which is easy to reach, so no parking worries. Take the elevator up and Someday Romance is the only place on the floor, so it's easy to find.

It's a bit random, but the interior has a Southeast Asian feel and the mascot is a sheep. Next to it there's a doll whose concept I couldn't figure out... haha

A Southeast Asian-style brunch restaurant, best after sunset

Someday Romance has Southeast Asian-style decor both outside and inside.

Southeast Asian-style outdoor area of Someday Romance at dusk

I went around dusk so the photo didn't come out so pretty, but the view with the lights on after dark is really lovely, so I recommend going after sunset if you can. Especially if it's a date!! haha

Outside there's a pond and a spot for private dining, which gives it a nice mood. There are fish in the pond, so kids have fun watching them. Even if one falls in, the water is only ankle-deep, so no worries. (Changing their clothes is just a hassle, lol)

A dreamy, resort-like interior

Inside, soft lighting, high ceilings, a stream running through the room and big potted plants make it a good setting for a blind date or an anniversary. Lights and steam rise from the water too, and the kids couldn't take their eyes off it. The resort-style palm tree decor on the tables and the wide spacing between tables also make it good for private conversation.

You can look out at the pond from inside, and I'll say it once more: visiting when it's dark gives you an even prettier vibe.

I visited around 5:30pm, so there weren't many people. I could relax as if I'd rented the whole place, hahaha.

Ordering, payment and facilities at Someday Romance

You order by kiosk at Someday Romance. It accepts the Daejeon Love Card (a local payment card), and you get 10% cashback when you pay with it, you know that, right?

There's a microwave just for baby food, and at the self-bar you can grab cutlery, forks and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi).

You can also settle parking inside the restaurant, up to 3 hours free. Even if you go over 3 hours because you're shopping at Savezone too, it's combined with other stores, so don't worry!

Someday Romance menu and prices

Someday Romance in Dunsan-dong gets lots of kids, and the menu shows consideration for that. A red chili means a bit spicier than Shin Ramyun, and a blue chili means not spicy for adults but possibly zesty for kids. So thoughtful!

Soon after, our food was ready. You have to pick it up from the pickup zone yourself, but with this much food I carried one tray and a staff member brought the rest.

The full spread of dishes ordered at Someday Romance

The dishes were neatly and prettily plated, so I couldn't not take photos. Is this what it means for your eyes to be happy before you even eat?

Ricotta salad, the perfect supporting act

First up to whet the appetite: the ricotta salad! Three scoops of rich, soft ricotta sat on fresh green vegetables. The sweet-and-sour dressing balanced the cheese's flavor and left my mouth feeling fresh and clean, a great starter. A light, healthy dish. You've got to order one salad when you eat Western food, right? haha

Addictive Toowoomba shrimp risotto

Western food doesn't have to mean only rich dishes. Toowoomba shrimp risotto, with its spicy, savory aroma! The thick, creamy Toowoomba sauce soaked deep between the grains of rice, and one bite spread a rich flavor softly through my mouth. A little spiciness made it even tastier.

The plump shrimp were generous and had a great texture. Not tiny shrimp, but ones bigger than my middle finger folded over! Thanks to the gently spicy finish, I enjoyed it to the last bite without feeling heavy.

A giant 40cm cream calzone

The final highlight was the calzone (a folded, half-moon stuffed pizza), which is said to be a must-try at Someday Romance in Daejeon! Since I came with my child, I ordered the non-spicy cream calzone (₩18,900).

Inside the golden, crispy, half-moon dough are soft cheese and plenty of varied fillings. The crispy outside of the dough, the chewy inside and the smooth cream sauce came together in perfect harmony.

It also comes with creamy, savory pasta on the side, boiled to a nice texture.

The cream calzone was really tasty and filling, and the one I was happiest with! haha

Someday Romance's apple-shaped cake, almost too pretty to eat

Someday Romance's apple cake isn't a cake with apple in it, it actually looks like a real apple. The stem is chocolate, the leaf is a mint leaf, the white inside is cream cheese, and inside that is apple preserve, though I have no idea what they used to make the apple skin (it was amazing haha).

It was such a cute apple-shaped dessert that I hated to eat it, but I dug in anyway. Mmm~ it's less sweet than I expected, and I bet it would be insanely good with coffee!

Verdict: Someday Romance, a Daejeon brunch date spot

A special restaurant that lacks nothing: taste, atmosphere, value for money and friendly service!
