On a weekday afternoon, two of us walked into Waltz and Dr. Mahn without a wait, took a roomy sofa seat and had Honor & Chevalier (18,000 won), Costa Rica Tarrazú hand drip (16,000 won) and blueberry cheesecake (9,000 won). The window seats were full, but the antique interior and river view more than made up for it, so Waltz and Dr. Mahn is a great pick for a small getaway in everyday life or a Bukhan River café outing with mom.

I visited Waltz and Dr. Mahn (왈츠와 닥터만), the Bukhang River café famous for being loved by the writers Park Wan-seo and Pi Cheon-deuk! I went around 3 p.m. on a weekday and got in right away with no wait.

The Bukhang River is right in front of Waltz and Dr. Mahn, and as a big Namyangju café it has a spacious parking lot, which was nice.
What is the atmosphere like at Waltz and Dr. Mahn?
The red-brick building gives Waltz and Dr. Mahn a stately feel, like a medieval European country villa!
Waltz and Dr. Mahn also runs a coffee museum, but the day I went was its regular closing day, so I couldn't see it.. (I'm a pro at showing up when places are closed 😭)
I love a Baekyeon Gage (百年가게, a government-designated century-old business) 💙 It's the first time I've seen a café get that designation, so I went in trusting it.
Window seats full, but a roomy sofa instead
The seats looking out the window at Waltz and Dr. Mahn are so pretty and I wanted one, but they were already full 😢 There were two of us and we were told to sit anywhere, so I grabbed a big sofa spot! It was super comfy haha The view outside the window is so good~~~ ˚✧₊⁎❝᷀ົཽ≀ˍ̮ ❝᷀ົཽ⁎⁺˳✧༚
The interior is antique too, and you can feel the years. This isn't something you could put together in a day or two lol It really feels like a café somewhere abroad! I've been wanting to travel lately, and this was proper vicarious satisfaction 🥹
There were lots of vintage tableware pieces and furniture, so just looking around was fun haha
This view was personally my favorite ✨ It looks like a scene from a famous painting 🥹 The space to the right of the entrance looks like this! It was gorgeous too 💐
Waltz and Dr. Mahn outdoor terrace
The outdoors at Waltz and Dr. Mahn is great too! The terrace has so much charm that a cup of tea there would be perfect 🥹 When the weather cools down I want to come back and sit on the terrace.

Two of us ordered the Costa Rica Tarrazú (₩16,000), Honor & Chevalier (₩18,000) and blueberry cheesecake (₩9,000) at Waltz and Dr. Mahn.

How does the signature Honor & Chevalier taste?
Honor & Chevalier (₩18,000) is the signature menu item at Waltz and Dr. Mahn, and the fruit is arranged like a bouquet, so it looks so pretty 💗 There were two flavors of macarons in the middle, and they were chewy and delicious! The drink is super sweet, a total sugar recharge!
Is the Costa Rica Tarrazú hand drip very acidic?
The Costa Rica Tarrazú (₩16,000) wasn't very acidic, just a l-i-ttle, and I liked the subtle aroma ☕️ I ordered one coffee, and Waltz and Dr. Mahn has so many kinds of coffee that I struggled to choose. (They said the ₩30,000 coffee was sold out that day, wow lol)
It came with irregular-shaped brown sugar, and when I dropped it in while the coffee was still warm, it tasted different in a fun way. Also, looking at other tables, every coffee cup was different, so it was fun to look at the pretty cups.
Does the blueberry cheesecake go with coffee?
I ordered the blueberry cheesecake (₩9,000) thinking we'd have a dessert later. The blueberry sauce on top went so well with the cheesecake, so yummy (˃̶᷄‧̫ ˂̶᷅๑ ) A perfect match for coffee!

I'd saved Waltz and Dr. Mahn a long time ago because I wanted to go, so I went with high expectations and was still really, truly satisfied. I want to visit again, and I think my mom would love it. In fact, quite a few people there had come as mother and daughter or mother and son. It was so nice to see haha
And since it's famous as a café writers loved, many people had brought books to read! If you want some relaxed time in your everyday life, I think it's well worth visiting and enjoying!
