Friday is such a happy day that just going to work feels good. Why has my Monday blues gotten so bad lately..ㅠㅠ I'm so not enjoying going to the office these days! But it's Friday! So I went out with my junior coworkers for a lunch at an Euljiro 3-ga Station favorite. Our pick today: Paldal Neoguri Haejang Euljiro 3-ga Station branch!!

The other teammates had gone out early for lunch with the team lead, so we headed out a little early too, for a tasty Euljiro lunch. It's a 5-minute walk from my office and close to Euljiro 3-ga Station! A newly opened spot, great for a lunch near Euljiro 3-ga Station!!

What are the interior and seating like?

The interior has tables for 2, 4 and 6, with a clean wood-and-green look. It doesn't feel like the usual hangover soup place, so it was comfortable for a group lunch.

Menu and the ₩5,000 add-on single-person set

The meals include neoguri udon gukbap (udon noodles with rice in soup), palpal haejangguk (hangover soup) and sallal sunsal gukbap (boneless beef rice soup), and you can pick regular or spicy. Add ₩5,000 to a regular gukbap and you get a single-person set: the Aroni set or the Kkanyang set.

Here's the menu. The meals are neoguri udon gukbap / palpal haejangguk / sallal sunsal gukbap and so on. You can choose regular or spicy, and if you come at dinner, the bone-in rib suyuk (boiled sliced meat) or beef hot pot looks tasty too.

Add ₩5,000 to a regular gukbap and you get a great-value single-person set, either the Aroni set (Naekmgeun Aroni) or the Kkanyang set. It's a happy Friday, so we ordered 2 Aroni sets and 2 Kkanyang sets, 4 single-person sets in total. Three of us got the signature neoguri udon gukbap and one got the palpal haejangguk!

Side dishes: kkakdugi, pickled chilies and kimchi

And then there's kimchi. We chatted while picking at the sides. Does anyone else eat the most side dishes before the main comes out? Once the main arrives I barely touch them..haha The cute neoguri (raccoon dog) character tells us to live healthy and lively.

Is the Aroni set's braised beef shank suyuk big for a lunch set?

The aroni suyuk (boiled beef shank slices) in the Aroni set comes in soy sauce with wasabi and kimchi, and the portion was pretty big for a lunch set. We ordered 4 single-person sets for 4 people, and everyone said we should've ordered just 2.

Soon the aroni suyuk came out! Oh, that's quite a lot for a lunch set. It comes in soy sauce with wasabi and kimchi, generous and so good.

Everyone said that if they'd known the portion would be this big, they'd have ordered only 2 sets..

Let's dig in. Wow, the super tender aroni suyuk with the tasty sauce just melts in your mouth.

How spicy is the spicy neoguri udon gukbap?

I ordered Paldal Neoguri Haejang's signature neoguri udon gukbap spicy, and the heat was about like Shin Ramyeon. It has udon and rice, with a variety of meat including beef short rib meat, cheek and tripe, topped with seaweed flakes, cheongyang chili and garlic.

Then it came out! My neoguri udon gukbap! I ordered it spicy and it was about as hot as Shin Ramyeon. It has rice along with the udon (the rice is warmed by toryeom, ladling hot broth over it repeatedly), and the meat is varied: beef short rib meat, cheek, tripe and more. Seaweed flakes, cheongyang chili and garlic are on top.

The palpal haejangguk has seonji in it

This is the palpal haejangguk my friend ordered. It has seonji (congealed ox blood). And of course the rice is done with toryeom!

Let's dig in. Having udon and rice together is different, and it's even better with the chewy udon. The meat is tender, and there's plenty of it so it has bite too. The broth is tasty and filling!

Partway through I sprinkled on pepper and it got even better. I shook it on like a pepper addict. The broth is refreshing too. Definitely worth coming for an Euljiro 3-ga Station lunch.

What does the kkanyang muchim in the Kkanyang set taste like?

The kkanyang muchim (seasoned tripe) in the Kkanyang set comes tossed in a sweet-spicy gochujang sauce, and its chewy texture is a treat. Between the gukbap and the portions, a lot of the set was left over.
