Chicken and beer at Jump Café × Deultong Beer Myeongji International Branch

Yesterday my husband and I went out for an evening of chimaek (chicken and beer). I wanted tasty chicken, a cold draft beer and a nice long chat, so we visited Jump Café × Deultong Beer Myeongji International Branch (점프카페 들통맥주 명지국제점). The atmosphere was lovely and the fried chicken was delicious, so we had a really good time. If you're looking for a place for chicken and beer in Myeongji International New City, have a look!

What is the atmosphere like at Jump Café × Deultong Beer Myeongji?

Besides indoor seating, there are outdoor tables. On a nice day, a cold beer outside is just the best, right? I liked that you can enjoy chicken and beer outdoors as well as inside.

We went in the evening, just the two of us, and it was a comfortable place to sit with a beer. It also looked good for a casual drink with friends, or for when you crave chicken after work. When I look for a good place in Myeongji, the food matters, but so does the atmosphere, and with the outdoor tables here you get a different mood depending on the weather.

Once we stepped inside, I liked the interior too.

Open, airy seating inside Deultong Beer Myeongji

The big windows give it an open, airy feel. It doesn't feel stuffy or closed in; it's bright and open, which made it comfortable to stay a while.

The music was good too. Listening to soft music while enjoying tasty chicken and beer made the evening feel unhurried. Yesterday it was just my husband and me. We're usually busy with one thing or another, so sitting across from each other and talking at leisure is precious.

We chatted about this and that over cold draft beer and lost track of time. Good food is great, but a place where you can talk comfortably really matters, I think.

What comes out as starter snacks?

After we ordered, puffed-rice snacks (ppeongtwigi), cabbage salad and pickles came out first as free starter snacks.

Nostalgic puffed-rice snacks served as a starter

The first thing that caught my eye was the nostalgic puffed-rice snack we used to eat so much when we were young. It's nice to nibble on one at a time while waiting for the beer, and it was fun to see it again after so long.

The cabbage salad and pickles came out too.

Crunchy cabbage salad and handmade pickles

The crunchy cabbage salad went well with the chicken, and the tangy pickles cleansed my palate between bites. I heard the pickles are handmade, too. I love having pickles with chicken, so I was glad the starter snacks included them. Before the main dish arrived, we chatted with our beer and snacks.

Electric roast chicken or fried chicken: which did I pick?

Looking at the menu, I saw they also have electric roast chicken (jeongi tonggui). I was curious about it, but that day I was somehow craving crispy fried chicken. After some deliberation, I ordered the fried chicken.

How does the fried chicken taste?

The fried chicken at Deultong Beer Myeongji has a thin coating, not a thick one, and it stays nicely crunchy. And here it is, the fried chicken we ordered!

What I liked most was the coating. It isn't thick, it's thin, and still has that crunchy texture.

Fried chicken with a thin, crispy coating

With chicken, the feel of eating it changes depending on the coating, doesn't it? The thin, crispy texture here was great, and the savory flavor came through well. I loved the crunch when I took a bite. Chicken really is all about that crispiness!

Fried chicken with draft beer

Crispy fried chicken with cold draft beer made it a proper chimaek.

A piece of crispy chicken and a sip of cold beer go together so well. Sharing the chicken across the table from my husband and chatting made the evening even more fun.

You don't need to go somewhere special; with good food and someone you love, you can have a lovely time like this. It was a comfortable place to enjoy draft beer on a day when you crave chicken in Myeongji. Next time I'd like to try the electric roast chicken I skipped this time.

Can you have coffee after chicken and beer?

Jump Café runs right next door to Jump Café × Deultong Beer Myeongji. I heard you can order coffee in the evening too.

After chicken and beer, sometimes you want a cup of coffee, right? I liked that you can have coffee without moving to another café after your chimaek. It seems handy if you want coffee in the evening or a relaxed finish after a meal. Being able to use the café as well as the chicken and beer place stuck with me.
