A Seomyeon bar for baseball and chimaek: what is Craft Hans like?

Craft Hans Seomyeon Branch is a Seomyeon bar with cheap chicken, lots of craft beers and a baseball screen. Tonight I want to watch baseball in Seomyeon with a cold chimaek (chicken and beer)! But I also want insanely good chicken and craft beer, and good value! If that's you, I recommend Craft Hans.

The chicken is cheap, but it's got a flavor that could easily slap Hwangol (BBQ's famous fried chicken) around a couple of times. Plus lots of craft beers and a baseball screen. This is exactly the kind of place my department head would love. Okay, let's go-go!

Craft Hans Seomyeon Branch takes up a big space on the second floor in the alley that runs past the noisy streets of Seomyeon's Street No. 2 and out toward Jeonpo. The sign has a slightly vintage look that I found endearing. Let's go get some chimaek!

The interior at Craft Hans Seomyeon is impressively exotic. If you're not careful, you'll think, wait, is this America?

The window seats sit right up against the glass, which gave the place a great mood. I felt like Juliet waiting for her Romeo.

There's also a screen, so it looks like a great spot for watching sports. Would they show the World Cup too? Or maybe not, since Korea got knocked out... There are group tables as well, so it seems good for a company dinner. Your boss likes baseball? And tonight is chimaek? Then it's Craft Hans.

The Craft Hans menu covers chicken, pizza and more, and the beer list is enormous too. There were so many draft beers, in fact,

that there's a beer tap machine like this one. It's heaven for craft beer lovers. My friend and I went with Hans Crispy Chicken and a big Terra draft.

Free hardtack snack and a Terra draft over 600ml

The free side snack at Craft Hans is gunbbang (hardtack biscuits). This little temptress brings tears to a man's eyes. Lots of guys who did their military service hate gunbbang, but I love it. Doesn't it taste amazing on a march? And when it gets stuck in your throat, you just steal the junior soldier's water!

Anyway, just as we were starting in on army stories and all sorts of other talk after the gunbbang, the Terra draft arrived. It comes in a glass of over 600ml, so the sight alone is something. Of course, for heavy drinkers like us, that's a piece of cake.

Hans Crispy Chicken for ₩15,900: how did it taste?

While we were gulping down the beer, the Craft Hans chicken arrived. It was ₩15,900. It was cheaper than I expected, so I wondered if they use baby chickens, but it was just regular chicken. The coating was just right and crispy, and it was really delicious.

The sauces are classic: ketchup, mustard and pickled radish.

Hans Crispy Chicken was a bit like BBQ's Hwangol. The seasoning inside is similar too. How can they sell this for ₩15,900... is it a flash sale?

A wing like this goes straight into the mustard for a good dunking. Personally, drumsticks are great too, but I think wings are really the best.

We finished our second glass of beer. Even after drinking over 1,000 liters each (okay, exaggerating), we're young guys still crying out that we're hungry.

Is Craft Hans Seomyeon good for company dinners and group meetups?

If you're looking for a bar in Seomyeon for a casual drink, I recommend Craft Hans. For a reasonable price we got crispy chicken along with a wide choice of draft and craft beers, and with its spacious interior and a screen for sports broadcasts, it was a satisfying place for a get-together with friends or a company dinner.

The Hans Crispy Chicken in particular was better than expected for the price, so good I'd go back just for the chicken, and picking beers to suit your taste is fun too. If you're craving a cold chimaek while watching baseball tonight, Craft Hans in Seomyeon could be a great way to spend the evening.
