Rigatoni ragu and katsu platter at Dongnae bistro Sasaenghwal, Busan

Sasaenghwal is a Western-style brunch restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building right in front of Geumjeong Market, near Dongnae Station in Busan. Arriving with her husband at the 11:00 opening, the writer ordered rigatoni pasta with ragu sauce (17.9) and the four-piece gamdong katsu platter (19.9), and found the spicy ragu and the tenderloin, pork loin, cheese katsu and Scotch egg line-up good value for the price. With free corkage and one hour of free parking, Sasaenghwal is an easy pick for a date or a family meal in Dongnae.

Yeonsan-dong kalguksu restaurant open at 10am: Sinseon Myeonga

Sinseon Myeonga is a kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup) restaurant in Yeonsan-dong, Yeonje-gu, Busan that pulls its own fresh noodles in the shop every day. Arriving at 10am, the writer put anchovy kalguksu at 7,000 won, octopus bibimbap at 10,000 won and a small bossam (boiled pork wraps, serves 2) at 22,000 won on one table, plus a complimentary sundae sample and sikhye and yakgwa afterwards. A couple who usually struggle with wheat noodles emptied even the broth with no stomach trouble, making Sinseon Myeonga an easy recommendation for a morning meal in Yeonsan-dong.
