Gwangjin self-photo studio maternity shoot with baby tuxedo props: U&E

Today I went to U&E Studio Seongsu (유앤이 성수점), a self-photo studio in Seongsu, Seoul, for my maternity shoot.

What kind of self-photo studio is U&E Studio Seongsu?

U&E Studio Seongsu describes itself as a premium self-studio where you can freely shoot any concept you like: wedding, couple, family, friends, even profile photos. It says it has top-level equipment and lighting for Korea, and that with just a Bluetooth remote you can take natural, stylish photos like a pro.

When I visited, they were running a free adult and baby dress rental event.

If you join the U&E Studio Seongsu review event, there's a ₩20,000 deposit for the free dresses for everyone in your party, and it's refunded 100% when you write a Place review or a blog post.

How to get to U&E Studio Seongsu, and is there an elevator?

U&E Studio Seongsu is on the 3rd floor of the building at 347 Gwangnaru-ro. There's no elevator, so if you're carrying a lot of stuff, be careful!

And we're inside the studio. The staff need setup time, so I recommend arriving right on time.

How much are the photo packages at U&E Studio Seongsu?

The early-bird event package at U&E Studio Seongsu is ₩99,000. They say it suits many concepts: bridal showers, self-weddings, couples, anniversaries, maternity, family and baby shoots.

Is a self-shoot in the 4M horizon studio difficult?

On into the studio. This room at U&E Studio Seongsu is the 4M horizon premium self-shooting room, and a plain white background like this is the default.

Facing forward from the studio, there's a big screen where you can see yourselves, so self-shooting wasn't hard at all.

What's in the fitting room and powder room?

Behind the computer at U&E Studio Seongsu there's a fitting room and a powder room for changing clothes. They'd thought of everything, from an iron for smoothing wrinkles to wet wipes, clothing pins, a curling iron, a hair dryer, hairspray, chargers and even nipple patches. I was honestly amazed.

What props are there for a maternity shoot?

On the side of the studio there are all kinds of flower and balloon props, plus photos from people who shot here before. Once I actually started shooting I was flustered and didn't know what to do, and those photos helped a lot!

They place flowers on the floor as an accent for the photos. If you want a cleaner look you can move them away, so you can shoot lots of different concepts freely.

This time I took a closer look at the props.

Trendy hats

The hat everyone's wearing these days! I'd been going back and forth on whether to buy it, so I was so happy it was ready as a prop.

Balloons and horse dolls

All kinds of balloons and dolls. Maybe because this year is the year of the Red Horse, they had horse dolls ready! I made great use of them as props~

Baby dresses and tuxedos

And here are the baby clothes! From baby girl dresses to baby boy tuxedos, so many adorable outfits. If it's a maternity shoot and you didn't manage to prepare baby clothes, they'd work well as props here!

Can you wear your own shoes in the shooting zone?

By the way, outside shoes aren't allowed in the shooting zone inside U&E Studio Seongsu. You need to bring socks, slippers or indoor shoes, and I liked that they keep shooting shoes available like this.

How do dress and suit rentals work?

In front of the fitting room there were also women's dresses, men's bow ties and suits. The shooting time is generous, so I recommend trying several outfits!

When and how do you get the original photos?

And we're done! Maybe because I wanted to try more concepts than I expected, or because I was flustered, the shoot flew by.

U&E Studio Seongsu emails you 100% of the original photos on the day of the shoot. The files are kept for only 7 days from the sending date and then auto-deleted, so be sure to download them in time.
