Hagye sushi buffet with my husband: crab soup and waffles, Kuu Kuu
In short
Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is a sushi buffet of more than 300 pyeong on the 6th floor of the Seoul Oncheon Building near Hagye Station in Nowon-gu, Seoul. On a long-overdue visit with her husband, a Kuu Kuu fan, the writer sampled raw salmon sashimi, thick-cut salmon and flounder sushi, smoked duck, lamb chops and desserts, and the Uljin red snow crab soup at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch was her favorite dish of the day. Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is a family dining spot with plenty to choose from, even for someone who doesn't enjoy sushi.

My husband, who loves Kuu Kuu, wanted to go, so we visited Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch again after a while. Kuu Kuu's menu varies a bit by location, and the Nowon branch had a wide variety of sushi plus unlimited draft beer, raw salmon sashimi, smoked duck, and even lamb chops. I loved being able to eat sushi alongside all sorts of other food, so here's my honest review of Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch :)
Where is Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch? Hours and parking
Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is on the 6th floor of Seoul Oncheon Building at 247 Nowon-ro, Nowon-gu, Seoul. Hours are weekdays 11:00–21:30 (last order 20:00) and weekends 11:00–22:00 (last order 20:30).
Parking is available at Seoul Oncheon Building. The parking entrance is at the back of the building, but on weekends and holidays it can get busy enough that parking isn't so smooth. Naver reservations are available, and there are group rooms and a kids' play area too.
How big is Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, and is there group seating?

This Nowon favorite sits on the 6th floor of Seoul Oncheon Building. The space is over 300 pyeong (about 1,000 square meters) with lots of tables, so overall it felt pretty comfortable.
They can host groups of 50, 80, or up to 300 in separate spaces, with dedicated rooms and group seating, so it looked great not just for family meals but for work dinners or group gatherings too.

Unlimited draft beer and waffles made by the staff

Draft beer at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is ₩3,900 per glass, or ₩5,900 per person unlimited. If you're having more than two glasses, going unlimited is way better value!
Staff members grill the waffles themselves, refilling them as soon as they run out, so I got to eat warm, crispy waffles fresh off the iron. Since kids don't have to use the waffle machine themselves, it seemed even safer for family visits.
Nowon Branch special: Norwegian raw salmon sashimi

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch also serves Norwegian raw salmon sashimi, available at weekday dinner and on weekends and holidays. Apparently it's a special item exclusive to the Nowon branch — not even offered at Kuu Kuu Gold.
Sushi, rolls and gunkan at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch
Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch had a really wide variety of rolls prepared. Beyond the basic California roll and crunchy California roll, there were rolls you don't usually see at buffets, like gat-kimchi salmon futomaki, shrimp roll, and mukeunji yukhoe roll (aged kimchi and beef tartare roll).
There were also plenty of gunkan (battleship sushi) varieties — avocado salmon gunkan, woo-samgyeop ssammu gunkan, stir-fried kimchi gunkan, Uljin red crab meat wasabi gunkan, soy sauce shrimp gunkan, tuna salad tofu-skin gunkan, and more — just the names sounded delicious!

Apparently Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch has upgraded the size of the fish on their flounder and salmon sushi so you get a mouthful of sashimi with every bite. They said the shrimp sushi uses botan shrimp for extra shrimp flavor, which got me even more excited to try it!!

What hot food is there besides sushi?
Past the sushi counter at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, there's a wide range of hot food too — tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), pasta, kkwabaegi-style sweet and sour pork, chili shrimp, and more.
On weekday dinners and on weekends and holidays, you can also get chewy smoked duck and lamb chops with their tender texture and distinctive flavor, so the range of menu choices was really wide.

With pizza, pasta, and fried food also available, it's great that there's plenty to eat even if you visit with someone who isn't a big sushi fan.

My favorite of the day: Uljin red snow crab soup
The Uljin red crab soup at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch was slightly spicy and packed with crab meat — a dish I really enjoyed! The rich crab umami combined with the soft soup base and a hint of spice made it a soup I kept going back for.

Salad bar and drinks
Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch also has a dedicated salad corner. From sweet pumpkin salad to various fresh vegetables and noodle dishes, there was enough variety to cleanse the palate between bites.

For drinks, there were sodas, a coffee machine, and various kinds of tea. Beyond ordinary sodas, there's also plum juice and lychee juice, so there's something to suit every taste.
Desserts, fruit and marble ice cream, even at weekday lunch

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch also had a wide variety of desserts, including cakes, fruit, and ice cream. The bread and cake were soft and just sweet enough to be delicious, but the fruit really stood out — every piece was sweet and juicy, and I enjoyed it a lot as dessert after the meal.
Marble ice cream, which used to be available only at weekday dinner and on weekends, is now available at weekday lunch too, and I loved that! The ice cream had a chewy, gelato-like texture, but honestly, being able to eat as much marble ice cream as I wanted was the best part haha.
The sushi and other dishes were delicious too, but since I personally love soup, the Uljin red crab soup was my favorite dish of the day ♥ If you visit Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, definitely try the Uljin red crab soup :)
How good is the salmon and flounder sushi at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch?
I picked a bit of everything — salmon, flounder, shrimp, egg — and with such a wide variety of sushi, there was real fun in choosing according to taste.
The salmon and flounder sashimi were nicely thick-cut, which I liked — the salmon sushi was soft and nutty, and the flounder sushi kept a lively chewy texture, both better quality than I expected.
Who is Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch best for?
Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch has a spacious, comfortable dining room, so it's great for family meals or group gatherings, and with unlimited draft beer, I'd also recommend it to anyone who enjoys drinking. The food isn't just sushi — there's a wide range of other dishes and desserts too, so even people with different tastes can visit together and each pick what they like.
