Goyang BBQ for two, extra meat when yukhoe sold out: Baekseok Kkogijip

In short

Baekseok Kkogijip (백석꼬기집) is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Exit 6 of Baekseok Station in Ilsandong-gu, Goyang, where the meat is grilled for you and served ready to eat. The writer and her husband ordered the set for two with 360g of mixed fresh pork (pork belly and neck) and kimchi stew. Because the yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) had sold out that day, they got a generous portion of extra meat instead. Wraps with pickled wild garlic leaves and a tangy spring onion salad paired especially well with the pork. With no smoke or grill heat to deal with, Baekseok Kkogijip is a good pick for a summer meal out or a group dinner.

What kind of BBQ restaurant is Baekseok Kkogijip?

Baekseok Kkogijip (백석꼬기집) is a BBQ restaurant near Baekseok Station Exit 6 that brings you meat already grilled. I went with my husband for a meat dinner out after a long while, and the biggest draw here is that fully grilled system! 🔥

Since you don't have to grill anything yourself, the meat comes out nicely cooked, there's no worry about smoke, and above all you don't sweat in front of a hot grill. It was a perfect place to eat meat in summer. 👍

In summer we usually shy away from BBQ places because of the hot grills, right? But Baekseok Kkogijip brings the meat out fully grilled, so you can eat in a cool, comfortable setting, and maybe that's why it was really popular. 😊

What's in the set for two at Baekseok Kkogijip?

The signature items at Baekseok Kkogijip are the set menus: meat + a taster of yukhoe (beef tartare) + kimchi stew (or doenjang sulguk, a soybean paste rice stew). We ordered the set for two with 360g of mixed fresh meat (pork belly + neck).

Sadly the yukhoe had sold out that day, but they gave us extra meat instead, so we were happy. 😊 We chose the kimchi stew, and the free ramyeon noodles were a nice bonus too.

Side dishes

Steamed egg, corn cheese, doenjang stew, myeongi namul (pickled wild garlic leaves), fresh wrap vegetables and kimchi. There was a wide variety of side dishes, so the table felt generous. 🥬 The corn cheese was a fun surprise; they told us it's made with mayonnaise and cheese, and the slightly chewy texture gave it a different charm.

The kimchi stew came out first

The kimchi stew arrived first. See how packed it is! The meat in it was hearty too, enough to polish off a bowl of rice. 😂

How was the grilled mixed fresh meat?

After a short wait, the main dish finally arrived: the mixed fresh meat! 😍 They set it on a warmer on the table so it stays hot until we finished. I liked that thoughtful touch.

Pork belly and neck, perfectly grilled, with mushrooms, peppers and onions grilled alongside. It made my mouth water just looking at it. 🤤

I wrapped some in fresh lettuce, and then, as the owner recommended, tried it wrapped in myeongi namul, and it went really well. Best of all, since we didn't have to grill, we could chat comfortably while eating. 😊

Once the kimchi stew is bubbling, grab the ramyeon noodles set out next to the counter and add them in for another treat. 🍜 After adding the noodles, I started craving rice too.

Meat and side dishes at Baekseok Kkogijip

The basic side dishes at Baekseok Kkogijip are good too. The steamed egg isn't salty and has a pleasantly mild flavor, and the corn cheese, with its slightly unusual texture, and the doenjang stew were savory and a little salty, so they worked well as rice sides.

Even with just a little wasabi and salt, the flavor and quality of the meat itself came through.

My personal pick: the spring onion salad

Personally, the tangy pa-chae geotjeori (shredded spring onion salad) went well with the meat and suited my taste, so I kept picking at it without realizing. Not-so-secret confession! 😂

Atmosphere and service at Baekseok Kkogijip

The food was good, but above all the owner of Baekseok Kkogijip was really kind, so we felt happy the whole meal. 😊 They said that around autumn they throw the side window wide open for an outdoor-pub feel, so each season probably has its own charm.

No smoke, a clean meal, and no effort grilling were really big pluses.

How do you get the old-fashioned patbingsu dessert?

If you join the summer review event at Baekseok Kkogijip, you can get old-fashioned patbingsu (red bean shaved ice) for dessert. It's nostalgic patbingsu through and through! 🍧 Moderately sweet and cold, it was just right to finish off after the meat.

Is it a good spot for a group dinner or family gathering near Baekseok Station?

Baekseok Kkogijip is within walking distance of Baekseok Station (Exit 6), so it's easy to reach, there's less worry about smell sticking to your clothes, and since nobody has to grill, everyone can chat comfortably. I'd recommend it for company dinners or family gatherings. 😊
