If you love bread and you're anywhere near Pyeongtaek or Anseong, this is a big bakery café you really shouldn't miss. Here's my honest review of Chat Baker (챗 베이커).

What are the interior and atmosphere of Chat Baker like?
Chat Baker is a large café with a clean, comfortable feel: big modern stone-look tables and lots of green indoor plants. The tidy yet stylish interior caught my eye the moment I walked in.

LP records and media objects are displayed on the walls, so every corner of the café was basically a photo spot.

Is the garden view through the big windows good for families and dates?
Through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows you get a wide, open view of the outside and the garden, so it looks perfectly fine for a family outing or a date. My little weekend healing ritual these days is hunting down big cafés with pretty, delicious bread, and Chat Baker was perfect in every way: the modern interior, the open view out the windows, and the dazzling bakery lineup that makes your mouth happy.
The windows even have a water-droplet effect on the glass, which makes it an ideal spot to zone out over a cup of coffee. The roomy, pleasant space made it easy to stay a while.

What breads and cakes are in the Chat Baker showcase?
The display cases hold a really wide range of cakes and breads, from classic chocolate cake to fresh cream croissants and Dubai chocolate salt bread. Chat Baker's real charm shows up in front of the showcase and bakery shelves!

There was a fresh cream croissant with top-tier looks and the trendy Dubai chocolate salt bread, so choosing became a happy dilemma.

The cakes come in a huge variety too!

The fancy slice cakes were sweetness itself, and the breads baked fresh in the shop every day looked crispy outside and moist inside just from seeing them.

As you'd expect from a big café, the menu is hugely varied too!

How did the tray of breads from Chat Baker taste?
The tray I piled up at Chat Baker that day held a Dubai chocolate salt bread, a raspberry chocolate baguette, two croissants, a jalapeño sausage pastry, a yakgwa cookie and a lemon Earl Grey cookie. Let me go through them one by one!

Dubai chocolate salt bread

This was one of the items I was most looking forward to, and when I split it open it was packed with real pistachio kadayif (shredded phyllo), nutty and crunchy! The salty, slightly bitter chocolate coating with the sweet, nutty kadayif inside was simply top-notch.
Raspberry chocolate baguette
The raspberry chocolate baguette is filled with fresh, soft pink raspberry cream and jam between chocolate baguette. The sweet-tart raspberry pops with every bite, so it never felt heavy and I wolfed it down.
Two kinds of croissant

The golden croissants had beautifully defined layers, and the buttery aroma filled my mouth. Of course they went perfectly with coffee.

Jalapeño sausage pastry
Salty, zingy jalapeño and a plump sausage wrapped in nutty pastry made this great as a meal replacement too. The spiciness that whets your appetite is its charm.

Yakgwa cookie

The yakgwa cookie, topped with a big piece of yakgwa (a traditional Korean honey cookie) that's great as a dessert, was chewy and sweet, just right for a mood boost!

Lemon Earl Grey cookie

The lemon Earl Grey cookie has a lovely Earl Grey aroma and a crispy lemon coating, so yummy~
Is Chat Baker worth recommending for a Pyeongtaek-Anseong bakery tour?
Chat Baker isn't just a place that sells bread; it's an appealing space where you can relax with an open view and a stylish interior. The quality of each bread and the balance of ingredients were so good that I immediately understood why so many people make this a bakery-tour stop.
If you're looking for a big bakery café with a good atmosphere around Pyeongtaek or Anseong, I strongly recommend stopping by Chat Baker for delicious bread and some healing time!
