Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch (카페동이 대명역점) is a home-style Korean set-meal restaurant in Daemyeong-dong, Nam-gu, Daegu, near Exit 1 of Daemyeong Station on Daegu Subway Line 1. Over the October holiday, a family of four ate the kimchi stew set, the fire-grilled jeyuk (spicy stir-fried pork) set, fried dumplings and nuruk-aged tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour pork), and the free golden rice, roasted seaweed, eggs and barley gangjeong (puffed barley crisps) kept the kids eating happily before the food even arrived. With set meals around ₩10,000 and a discount on tangsuyuk ordered alongside them, Cafe Dongi is an easy, affordable Daemyeong-dong Korean restaurant for regular visits with children.

Daesin Peanut Bread (대신땅콩빵) is a street snack stall selling peanut bread and egg bread in Seomun Market, Jung-gu, Daegu, in front of North Gate 11 of the Zone 2 shopping complex. After lunch at Seomun Market, the writer bought peanut bread and egg bread as a snack for the kids, watched them being baked, and browsed the peanut butter and peanut latte. Daesin Peanut Bread's peanut bread was so nutty that the writer ate it all before the kids got any.

Daegu raw beef restaurant for a first-timer friend: Bonghwa Saenggogi

Bonghwa Saenggogi Bokhyeon Branch is a saenggogi (fresh raw beef) and mungtigi restaurant at the entrance of the Bokhyeon-ogeori food alley in Buk-gu, Daegu. On a weekday evening, the writer brought a friend who had never eaten raw beef and ordered the 2-person A course (140g raw beef + 140g yukhoe), and the friend happily ate the same-day-slaughtered hanu cow raw beef and even the side dishes like deunggol (beef spinal cord). Bonghwa Saenggogi's half raw beef, half yukhoe set is a good fit for raw beef beginners.
