In short

Mount Sunday is a brunch café in the Beomeo housing district (Beomeo Taekji) of Mulgeum-eup, Yangsan, Gyeongnam, across from Hwangsan Elementary School. On a weekday visit at 12:00 the café was almost full, and the bracken mushroom chicken salad, pumpkin cream gnocchi and Mount Sandwich were all tried, with the leftover sandwich packed to go at no container charge. Mount Sunday's dining hall crowded with lunchtime guests

Since brunch is the main draw here, lunchtime is always busy. From 11am, guests seem to pour in quickly. Even visiting on a weekday around noon, the place was nearly full, and people kept coming in.

For a more relaxed visit, I'd recommend coming right at the 11am opening, or after 1pm.

Mount Sandwich

Cross-section of the Mount Sandwich made with ciabatta

Between thick slices of ciabatta were generous helpings of fresh vegetables, ham, and cheese, with bread that was lightly crisp outside and moist inside.

The carrot rapée on the side gave a refreshing kick that kept my appetite going to the end — a big, satisfying brunch dish.

Bracken mushroom chicken salad

This is popular enough to be called Mount Sunday's signature dish.

Warm roasted mushrooms, bracken (dried fern shoots), and chicken breast were piled generously on top, making it much heartier than a typical salad, with crispy lotus root chips and sliced almonds adding great texture.

The house-made dressing paired beautifully with the ingredients — good stuff!!

Pumpkin cream gnocchi

Pumpkin cream gnocchi topped with roasted pumpkin in cream sauce

I usually go for pasta, but the pumpkin and potato gnocchi caught my eye today, so I gave it a try. The pumpkin, crispy outside and moist inside, blended well with the thick cream sauce and the chewy potato gnocchi — the more I ate, the more savory it tasted.

The cheese on top and crispy toppings added varied texture, making for a hearty brunch dish.

The golden, crispy roasted pumpkin was really the highlight.

Final thoughts on this Yangsan brunch and pasta favorite

True to its reputation as a long-standing favorite in Beomeo Taekji, the food's quality and composition were great. I could see why the taste stays consistent and keeps regulars coming back. It's also dog-friendly, making it a good spot for anyone wanting to enjoy brunch with their dog.
