We went on a summer family trip to a valley in Milyang, Gyeongnam. Here's a restaurant we stopped at on the way back 🍜🍜

How long is the Sunday lunch wait at Milyang Dol Jjamppong?
We visited Milyang Dol Jjamppong for our last lunch before heading home from our Milyang trip. Sunday lunch! We didn't know you could reserve a spot on Catch Table, and we definitely didn't expect it to be this crowded haha, so we just walked in and ended up waiting.
There's a really big parking lot right next to the restaurant, so parking shouldn't be a worry.
If you're driving, I think it's best to put your name on Catch Table and wait in the car, then come stand in front of the restaurant once there are about 2 teams left. Maybe because it was the weekend, there were a lot of big families, and since it's a Chinese restaurant the tables turn over fast, so even with a long wait, seats opened up quickly.
When we arrived there were about 10 teams ahead of us — we joined the waitlist at 12:20 and got in at 12:50.
Inside Milyang Dol Jjamppong and the self-serve banchan bar
The inside is spacious enough that even with a wait, tables open up fast. This area seems to be downtown Milyang and there were plenty of other restaurants nearby, but Milyang Dol Jjamppong was by far the busiest haha. Must be a reason it's a local favorite...
You can grab pickled radish and green onion kimchi from the self-serve bar, though of course they bring some to your table first haha.
Since so many families come here, they have baby chairs and a kids' menu (there's a kids' jajangmyeon), and they seem to allow outside baby food too.
And rice refills are free!! Sometimes after eating jajangmyeon or jjamppong you crave some rice, but ordering a full bowl feels like too much, right? This is such a nice touch haha.

Ordering here is also done via kiosk. You order at the table and pay by card right away.
Even though it was lunchtime, quite a few people were drinking, and the alcohol prices are very reasonable — soju is ₩4,000 and beer is ₩4,500!
How do the dol jjamppong and dol jajangmyeon taste?
There were 4 of us, so we ordered 2 servings of jjamppong and 2 of jajangmyeon.
A giant ladle (?!) — both the jjamppong and jajangmyeon have scorched rice under the noodles, meant for scraping up haha. My mom is totally a rice person, and she loved the scorched rice at the bottom.
The soup felt a bit reduced, almost simmered down — totally different from usual! Not quite a stir-fried jjamppong, not quite a soupy one either. I liked the jjamppong more than the jajangmyeon, so my dad and I finished off the jjamppong, while my sister and mom polished off the jajangmyeon haha.
It was similar to other stone-plate jajangmyeon places. Tasty! Honestly we have a go-to stone-plate jajangmyeon spot we usually go to, and this one was a bit sweeter in comparison. Chinese food is always amazing when it comes out freshly made and piping hot ㅜㅜ Also, they give you green onion kimchi, and it pairs so well with the noodles. You can refill the green onion kimchi at the self-serve bar, so eat up.
The mini donttang and chitang set
This is the donttang chitang set — pork tangsuyuk (sweet and sour) and chicken tangsuyuk respectively; donttang has pork inside and chitang has chicken inside haha.
Even the look is different — the left totally looks like tonkatsu and the right looks like chicken. There are even two sauces, tonkatsu sauce and a seasoned chicken sauce haha.
You can also join a review event, and they gave us a huge ade! You could choose grape or pomegranate, and we went with pomegranate.

They also give one yogurt drink per person, perfect for cleansing the palate.

It seems like a lot of people stop by here after visiting nearby attractions or golf courses. We did too haha. We had lunch here and then stopped by Wiyangji, which has the photo spot from the drama 'The King's Man,' before heading home!
It was so serene and lovely. If you go to Milyang, do Wiyangji then Milyang Dol Jjamppong 👍
