I live in Busan, so I've been to a LOT of brunch cafés here, okay? Out of all the soufflés I've eaten in the past 5 years, Oira in Haeundae is number one. Honestly, the soufflé was just the best, haha.

Oira makes its coffee with beans roasted in-house, and the café latte was delicious too. I especially liked that the pasta is made with fresh noodles that are soft and chewy. If you're looking for a great Busan coffee spot + a great dessert spot + a dog-friendly café, I recommend the brunch café Oira.

What are Oira's rules for bringing dogs?

Oira, a brunch café in Haeundae, allows pets, and there's a lawn + outdoor terrace in front. As you can see in the photos, the lawn is pretty big. There's a fence around it so pets can roam safely. I heard they can use it freely, off-leash!

  • They sell dog treats too. (The menu is introduced separately below.)
  • If you bring your dog inside the café, a carrier bag or stroller carrier is required.

Oira's atmosphere, seating and restrooms

Oira has a separate group seating area, plus solo seats, tables for 2 and tables for 4, so it suits all sorts of party sizes. The café is so pretty, right? Why did I only find out about Oira now, hahaha.

I visited at lunchtime today, and when evening came at home I found myself thinking about it. The soufflé, pasta and coffee were all really good. Honestly, if I didn't have plans tomorrow, I'd have gone back on my own dime.

The women's restroom is on the 1st floor and the men's is on the 2nd. The 1st floor runs as the brunch café and the 2nd floor is an exhibition-style space, which I'll mention again below~ The restrooms were quite nice. Like a proper café, they'd put coffee grounds in a cup in the restroom. Coffee grounds are great for absorbing odor and moisture, right? The restroom was fresh and pleasant to use!

Oira's menu and the price of the Brunch & Soufflé set

I ordered the Oira Brunch & Soufflé set with a soufflé, spicy pollack roe cream pasta and a decaf café latte, and the total came to ₩37,000. The menu covers soufflé, pasta, burgers, sandwiches, gambas, eggs Benedict, steak, risotto, toast, soup, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), fries, salad, ice cream, coffee, ade, smoothies, tea, wine and beer~ I was surprised by how many choices there were. I spent quite a while deciding what to eat, haha.

Dog menu: Mungpuccino and Mungpeulle

Since it's a pet-friendly café in Haeundae, Oira sells treats for dogs too~ There are plenty of fresh-cooked (natural food) dishes for dogs, and the kiosk even had a Mungpuccino and a Mungpeulle. Hahahahaha.

  • Mungpuccino: a cappuccino for dogs made with their signature pet drink, Dr. Mamma Milk. The foam is made with lactose-free milk.
  • Mungpeulle: a soufflé for dogs made with rice flour instead of wheat flour. It's topped with carrot powder, so it's said to be safe to eat.

Were there any downsides at Oira?

By my standards, Oira in Haeundae had no real downsides. I thought the staff could have smiled a little more, but it wasn't a big problem.

When I go to a restaurant or café, I look for the downsides as well as the good points, you know? These days most restaurants and cafés are above average anyway. So of course there are lots of good points, haha. If there's a downside, I don't go back.

How is Oira's decaf café latte?

I'd give the decaf café latte I had at Oira a 100. If you read my blog, you know that 95% of the time I only drink café lattes at cafés, hahaha. If there's no decaf, I drink tea; if there is decaf, it's usually a café latte. I have my own standards for what a good latte tastes like.

I keep praising it, so you might be thinking, 'Did the owner pay you?' but absolutely not, hahaha. I really just liked it.

Is Oira's signature soufflé really that good?

Oira's signature menu item is the soufflé, and I sincerely agree it's a signature. After eating it I thought, 'I have to come back here.' Honestly... there are so many good brunch cafés these days that few places make me think 'I have to go back,' haha. I prefer trying new places. But after Oira's soufflé, I now have a plan to return. It's that much of a must-eat.

Oira's soufflé pancake is super fluffy and soft. You could eat it with just your gums, no teeth needed. It's gently sweet, and you can really taste the egg. The texture is so cozy, and the combination of fried egg + whipped cream + tomato sauce + salad + sausage was very nice. I want to eat it again, haha.

How was Oira's spicy pollack roe cream pasta and its fresh noodles?

I heard that Oira, the brunch café in Haeundae, uses fresh noodles instead of dried ones for its pasta. Fresh noodles are known for being soft, chewy and springy, right? You can taste the savory flavor of wheat and egg, and they go especially well with heavy, creamy sauces. They're an ingredient with a short shelf life and a slightly fussy cooking and handling process, but well... that's not something customers need to worry about, hahahaha. Anyway, I really love fresh-noodle pasta.

Oira's spicy pollack roe cream pasta has a huge amount of pollack roe and is moderately thick, which made it easy to eat. Slurping the noodles with plump shrimp and broccoli on top was delicious~ The spiciness cut through the richness, which I liked. Tasting the salty pollack roe, I thought it would be great mixed into rice too. Hahahahaha.

Oira's 2nd-floor exhibition space and tips for visiting Jungdong Station

Go up to Oira's 2nd floor and there's an exhibition space that was nice for a casual look around : ) It's something to enjoy as a little extra after your meal.

Oira, a great Busan Haeundae brunch spot, is a 4-minute walk from Exit 6 of Jungdong Station, you know? Honestly, I tend not to go to the Jungdong Station area because there's not much to do there... but after trying the soufflé, I'd say Oira is a place you can just head to for the soufflé alone, so go check it out, haha.

What I want to try next time at Oira

If I go back on my own dime, I'll try the wine too. There seems to be a new item, a chestnut (bonnae-bam) soufflé? I'm curious about that, and I'd like to try the truffle oil pasta too. Today was so good, haha. I was happy to find a place that fits my taste exactly. The owner is kind as well, so I'll definitely go again!
