Bueokgan: a Western restaurant for dinner at the Gijang Shinsegae outlet

Bueokgan (부엌간) is a Western-style restaurant inside the Shinsegae Premium Outlets in Gijang. I'd gone to the outlet to browse, and when I looked for somewhere to eat dinner, there it was! I had a happy memory of eating at the Haeundae Bueokgan, so I went along. Here's my review of this Gijang outlet restaurant.

Where is Bueokgan in the Shinsegae outlet?

Bueokgan is about a 2-minute walk from the outlet entrance, in the SOUTH building, the one opposite the food court. If you head for the SYSTEM and WINE store building, it's easier to find.

Bueokgan is in the SOUTH building. Walk straight in toward the right and you'll find it at the back of the SYSTEM store.

What are the atmosphere and seating like?

The inside was huge, like a family restaurant. Outlets are places families visit a lot, I guess, because even though it was a late dinner, plenty of families and couples were eating.

There's good sofa seating and baby chairs too, so I saw lots of families with babies.

The menu is split into soup, salad and sides; pasta; gnocchi, lasagna and risotto; wood-fired pizza; and drinks. Pasta runs ₩18,000–20,000 and pizza ₩17,000–24,000.

What do the sweet potato fries taste like?

Bueokgan's sweet potato fries (₩8,000) are sweet potato tempura-style sticks, coated in rice flour and fried crisp.

They're a little sweeter than regular french fries, and the rice flour made them even crispier. Perfect as an appetizer.

How is the abalone cream risotto different from abalone porridge?

Bueokgan's abalone cream risotto (₩20,000) is made with rich abalone innards sauce and cream, topped with abalone, clam meat and fried enoki mushrooms.

It's thick and rich like abalone porridge (jeonbokjuk), but a different feeling, much smoother and creamier, and delicious in its own way.

How is the truffle mushroom wood-fired pizza?

Bueokgan's truffle mushroom pizza (₩22,000) is a wood-fired pizza on a house-made tomato sauce base, loaded with chewy mushrooms and finished with truffle oil.

It came fresh from the oven, so the dough was super chewy, and the toppings were piled on. So good. And above all, that combo of chewy oyster mushrooms and truffle oil... wow.

Who is Bueokgan at the Gijang Shinsegae outlet good for?

Since Bueokgan is inside the outlet, it's a great Western restaurant for a weekend date: shop, then have lunch or dinner. If you're looking for pasta and pizza in Gijang, I recommend Bueokgan at the Shinsegae Premium Outlets.
