Gwanghwamun sushi connected underground to the station: Elephant Sushi

Elephant Sushi — one of Seoul's top three sushi restaurants, they say! I'd only heard about it in passing until now, so I finally went with my mom for a little date.

How to reach Elephant Sushi Gwanghwamun, and where to park

Elephant Sushi Gwanghwamun connects directly underground to Gwanghwamun Station. After getting off at Gwanghwamun Station, heading toward exit 2 there's a passage that leads to the basement level of KT Tower West.

Go through the door, take the escalator up, and you'll see Elephant Sushi Gwanghwamun on your left! 🅿️ You can park in the building's underground lot, and it supports up to 2 hours.

Already saw a line of customers waiting ,, it was so nice not having to go back outside. We arrived from home completely dry-🩵

What is the seating like inside Elephant Sushi Gwanghwamun?

Inside, Elephant Sushi Gwanghwamun has 8 bar seats and about 15 tables for 2–4 people. There are hooks behind the bar seats for hanging coats or bags.

There were about 8 bar seats first! With hooks behind them, great for hanging up coats or bags !!

There were also quite a lot of tables, made up of tables for 2–4 people, about 15 in total. The chairs were comfortable and the place felt pleasant, which I loved.

Best of all, no hassle at all ,, the restrooms were very clean too, right in the building.

The Elephant Sushi Gwanghwamun menu is made up of the basic Elephant Sushi A–C sets, a kids' Elephant set, sashimi rice bowl, kaisendon, futomaki, and à la carte sushi. Sides and drinks were varied too.

First up, Elephant Sushi B! It came with 12 pieces plus cold soba (buckwheat noodles), and a mini salad too.

What comes in the Elephant Sushi B set

White fish x2, tuna belly, horse mackerel, gizzard shad, amberjack, swordfish, grilled salmon, soy-marinated shrimp, squid, monkfish liver, futomaki — it's a lineup made up entirely of high-grade fish. The taste was outstanding too ,, not fishy at all, genuinely delicious 🫶🏻🫶🏻

And of course the futomaki couldn't disappoint. I'm properly hooked on futomaki lately, eating it about once a week — it's big enough to fill you up fast, and delicious !! Egg, fried tofu, salmon, tuna, fried shrimp, all kinds mixed in 👍🏻👍🏻

And the monkfish liver sushi was especially good! My favorite sushi is monkfish liver, soy-marinated shrimp …🤎 If you happen to like monkfish liver, try adding it à la carte when you visit :-).. It's really good.
