Naju pork rib restaurant with half-and-half naengmyeon: Chamsutjip

Chamsutjip Naju Innovation City Branch is a charcoal-grilled pork rib restaurant on Green-ro in Naju Innovation City. After her son finished volunteer work at the Naju National Museum, the writer visited on a rainy Sunday night for the 2+1 handmade seasoned pork ribs (3 servings), half-and-half naengmyeon (cold noodles served both in broth and spicy-mixed), and pork skin, plus complimentary mud snail doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and scorched rice tea. With floor seating and a self-serve side dish bar, Chamsutjip is an easy choice for family and group dinners.

Ox knee & tail soup with chive garnish at Mokpo restaurant Mujinjang

Mujinjang Sik-yuk Kkori Gomtang is a third-generation Korean beef gomtang restaurant that moved to Mokpo's Peace Square a month ago. A husband and wife shared ox tail soup for 27,000 won and knee-cartilage soup for 25,000 won, both simmered from Korean cow beef with zero gaminess, and stirring in the chives that came with the knee soup made the flavor pop. It was a great pick-me-up meal for a run-down husband, and a place worth bringing parents to next time.
