After doing volunteer work with my son at the Naju National Museum, we headed to Chamsutjip, a Naju Innovation City restaurant famous for its handmade pork ribs on a 2+1 deal. It was pouring rain that day and I was a little worn out, but the pork ribs and pork skin melted my heart right away.

Parking and seating at Chamsutjip Naju Innovation City Branch
The underground parking lot at Chamsutjip Naju Innovation City Branch was quiet, so parking was easy. The owner also mentioned roadside parking was an option. We visited on a Sunday night, and the hall tables were packed with customers.

I wanted to photograph the inside of the restaurant, but it was too crowded to capture the main hall.

Instead, I photographed the floor-seating area further inside, which had no customers yet. It's a shoes-off table space, making it comfortable for group gatherings or family meals. The menu included pork belly, pork neck, pork skirt, kimchi jjigae, stir-fried pork, and more. We ordered our son's favorites.

Side dishes: gungchae, muk, corn mayo and marinated blue crab
As soon as we sat down, the side dishes arrived — crunchy gungchae (seasoned stem vegetable), muk (jelly), corn mayo, and marinated crab. My son devoured the marinated crab so happily. There were a lot of staff around, and they were all so kind.

2+1 handmade seasoned pork ribs for 3: portion size and meat quality
The portion in the photo is 3 servings — quite a lot, right? My son loves seasoned pork ribs, and since it happened to be a 2+1 deal, we could enjoy it without worry. I also liked that the ribs were handmade and marinated in a broth made from pear, apple, and vegetables.
Even just looking at it, the meat quality was clearly excellent. I checked the smell as soon as we got it, and there was no off odor — just fresh meat. The scoring on the meat was done carefully too, so the seasoning had soaked in well.
A BBQ restaurant really needs good meat quality. If it's bad, you never go back. This one looked great just by sight. I've had pork ribs at many places, and some are just overly sweet.
The portion was substantial enough to fill the whole grill. Plenty for two people to share — great value for money.

Don't the rib bones and meat look so well balanced? And the meat-to-fat ratio was just right!! Meat on real charcoal — impossible to resist!!!

It wasn't too salty or too sweet, which suited my taste perfectly~
I grilled each piece carefully for my son, who worked hard at his volunteering.
The complimentary mud snail doenjang jjigae
The complimentary corn snail miso soup came as a nice surprise. It had big pieces of crab, plenty of tofu, and a good kick of chili, making it spicy and savory. I can't handle very spicy food, but this wasn't too much — just right!

You have to pick every last bit of meat off the rib bone to get the full experience!!

Half-and-half naengmyeon: cold broth and spicy noodles in one order
We ordered the cold noodles my son loves, and it turns out they had a half-and-half version! Haha, we wanted both the water-based and spicy versions, and this was exactly the menu we were hoping for!

My son always eats naengmyeon (cold noodles) together with ribs, no exceptions. It's tastier eaten alongside the meat than as dessert afterward!

Looking at this photo makes me crave it again. The lettuce wraps and scallion salad go so well with everything.
Pork skin with soybean powder and curry powder
And you have to have pork skin when you come to a BBQ place!!!! A collagen block that's good for your skin — gotta eat it now and then! It comes pre-blanched, so it grills quickly. Golden brown on both sides over real charcoal~~

The chewy texture was amazing. Even though we were full, we ate every last piece.

Usually places only give you soybean powder, but Chamsutjip also gives curry powder. The soybean powder is nutty, and the curry powder is salty with a great curry flavor.
Dip it right in the curry powder!!!!

It had been a while since I had scorched rice tea, and it left my mouth feeling so refreshed!

I also loved that there was a self-serve bar so you could comfortably help yourself to more side dishes. If you're looking for a Naju Innovation City BBQ restaurant that's great for family meals or group gatherings, I recommend Chamsutjip!
