In short
Namhae Fish Jamsilsaenae Branch is an aged-sashimi seafood restaurant a 5-minute walk from Exit 4 of Jamsilsaenae Station in Songpa, Seoul. Where to park at Namhae Fish: a weekday 5pm visit
Parking is free in the lot behind the restaurant building if a space is available; when full, there's also a paid lot at Asia Park 300m away (₩250 per 5 minutes). I visited around 5pm on a weekday and got lucky — there were still a few spots open in the lot!
If you visit between 11:30 and 15:00, you can also try the hearty lunch special.
A clean, cute exterior

Namhae Fish, a perfect Jamsilsaenae restaurant for group dinners, is a sashimi specialty seafood spot you can enjoy through a well-put-together set course.

Inside Namhae Fish and its floor-to-ceiling window seats
The interior was bigger and more comfortable than I expected, with plenty of space between tables so it never felt cramped. The floor-to-ceiling windows are especially great — sitting by the window with good aged sashimi and a shot of soju, you could easily fall into that magic where one drink calls for another!
The menu and the kelp-aged sashimi set we ordered
Ordering is easy through the table-order system. Besides the seasonal assorted aged sashimi platter — 10 to 12 kinds of fish aged with kelp and rice wine — there's a sashimi set course that lets you try everything from appetizers to mains and sides, plus a sushi set and sashimi set for lunch that are hearty and filling. There's really a wide range of menu options.
[Order] : Kelp-aged sashimi set (₩39,000 per person)

Starter porridge and slushy ice-cold mulhoe
First came a warm, savory porridge and a bowl of mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) topped with shaved ice. Warm and nutty, it's perfect for calming an empty stomach 〰️
Next up: a mushroom spicy fish stew that looks fiery just from the color, and the mulhoe topped with a cool layer of shaved ice.
This was genuinely refreshing and deliciously sweet-and-sour. It was so hot out that day I scraped the bowl clean the moment I sat down — the combo of crunchy vegetables and icy broth is the best 〰️

The aged sashimi platter
Wow — the assorted sashimi platter looks fresh and chewy just from a glance. Salmon, hairtail, herring, flounder, red seabream, squid, salmon again, mackerel — plenty of good quality seasonal fish. True to an aged-sashimi specialty restaurant, the texture was chewy with deep flavor and absolutely no fishiness, just so delicious!

Soy sauce shrimp sushi, futomaki, seafood pasta, braised fish, and yurinki (Korean-style fried chicken) all came out.

Wow.. just looking at it, the whole spread looks so generous and filling.

Futomaki and soy-marinated shrimp sushi
The futomaki (thick sushi roll) was packed with generous ingredients giving multiple flavors in every full bite, and the soy sauce shrimp sushi was amazing too — plump, springy shrimp with a salty-sweet soy sauce flavor that's just artful.

Seafood pasta, braised fish and yurinki
The pasta had a rich, nutty bisque sauce with deep seafood umami, and the braised flatfish (I think?) had a spicy-sweet seasoning soaked deep into it.

The yurinki in particular was so, so good 〰️ crispy outside, moist and clean-tasting chicken inside, paired with a sweet-tart, salty sauce — a flavor you never get tired of, no matter how much you eat.

The sashimi was so chewy and fresh, with zero fishy taste, that it just kept going down easily.
And the rich, deep flavor of the nutty abalone innards!
Mushroom spicy fish stew to finish
A spicy, fiery broth packed with mushrooms — fragrant and clean-tasting mushroom spicy fish stew.
There was more fish meat in it than I expected, so mixing it into rice was also incredibly good 〰️
Is Namhae Fish good for a work dinner or group gathering?
With everything from aged sashimi to seafood sushi and futomaki, the menu lineup is diverse enough to enjoy a lot of different things in one sitting. Going beyond a typical sashimi restaurant feel, the wide range of cooked dishes makes it great for drinks with friends or a group gathering too. A Jamsilsaenae restaurant perfect for a nice atmospheric meal with plenty of seafood dishes and a spicy stew to wash it down — next time I'll have to come back for the lunch special!
