Brunch set with fig jambon ricotta salad in Gwangju: Camel Orzo

The weather was so nice and I wanted something delicious, so I went to Camel Orzo in Sangmu, Gwangju. The exterior already felt so foreign that I thought, "Wait, am I in Italy?" haha. I waited leisurely on the outdoor terrace and then had everything from truffle mushroom soup to jambon salad to pomodoro burrata pasta! Both the food and the vibe were satisfying — a great brunch spot in Sangmu 💚

Where do you park at Camel Orzo?

Camel Orzo offers partnered parking support in Sangmu, so it was easy to visit by car. I parked at Nice Park Chipyeong parking lot.

Since it's in the busy Sangmu district, having parking support made it convenient to visit by car.

• Switzen shopping center parking lot → 2 hours free, weekdays/weekends
• Nice Park Gwangju Chipyeong parking lot → 2 hours free, weekdays/weekends
• Peace Park underground parking → ₩2,000 (1 hour) support per table with parking ticket
• Megabox annex parking → 1 hour free on weekday lunch 11:00–16:00, applies to annex floors 2–5

The conditions vary a bit by parking lot, so I'd recommend checking before your visit :)

Camel Orzo's exotic exterior and outdoor terrace in Sangmu

Camel Orzo had such an exotic vibe right from the exterior. Add in the outdoor terrace on a nice day, and it felt like I'd traveled abroad!

It's not the kind of atmosphere you commonly see in Sangmu, so I was already excited before even going in.

How long is the wait at Camel Orzo?

For the first time in a while, I actually had to wait haha 🌿

I don't usually love waiting, but looking around the pretty space while I waited made the time pass faster than I expected.

This is worth waiting for! 💛

I thought it would work well for a date, a friend gathering, or a family meal.

Truffle mushroom soup

This was honestly my best dish of the meal! It's a soup blended with truffle and two kinds of mushrooms, really bringing out the mushroom flavor.

The moment I took a bite, this smooth, savory flavor hit right away — so good.

You could taste a gentle hint of truffle along with the deep mushroom flavor — I really want to recommend this one 💛

Fig-berry jambon ricotta salad

This is an autumn seasonal salad with in-season figs and fresh blueberries 🫐, domestic jambon, and soft ricotta cheese.

You can choose between French dressing and balsamic dressing — I went with French.

First of all, look how pretty this looks 💚

Thanks to the figs and blueberries, the colors were lovely and the fresh, tangy flavor made the salad itself genuinely delicious.

Eating this many vegetables for once made me think, "Am I actually getting healthier today?" It was both tasty and pretty haha.

Pomodoro burrata pasta

A pasta faithful to the basics — a tomato pasta made from tomato sauce simmered with fresh tomatoes and natural ingredients (no water added), with fresh garlic and cheese, and topped with burrata cheese. A truly pure tomato pasta, apparently.

The bright tomato flavor and the soft burrata cheese worked well together, making it clean and easy to eat.
