Anniversary pizza date in Sangmu, Gwangju: mushroom soup, Camel Orzo

I visited Camel Orzo, a stylish brunch café in Gwangju that's great for an anniversary date. It has delicious pizza and an exotic atmosphere — here's my honest review :)

Camel Orzo's exterior and terrace seating

Camel Orzo, a Gwangju date restaurant, was stunningly pretty from the outside!! I couldn't believe a place like this existed in Gwangju... the exterior alone earned it a pass as a date spot. The weather was unusually nice and the sunlight was beautiful the day I visited, so even random shots came out pretty.

There's also a terrace section outside one side of the restaurant, so once the weather cools down a bit more, sitting there to eat would be lovely too — that's Camel Orzo, a Gwangju date restaurant.

Ordering from the tablet at your table

Here's the menu at Camel Orzo, a Gwangju date restaurant. Each table had a tablet installed, so I could check the menu and order right there. They also gave us a printed menu book, so it was easy to pick :)

We mostly picked from the recommended menu! We ordered the red shrimp bisque rosé pasta, one of the new menu items, and the bulgogi pizza haha.

Inside Camel Orzo: high ceilings and a white-wood interior

While waiting for the food, I looked around inside Camel Orzo, a Gwangju date restaurant. The interior was really pretty too — the high ceiling gave it a grand feel, almost like a fine dining restaurant!

From the lighting to every little prop, nothing at Camel Orzo, a Gwangju date restaurant, felt careless! Even the ceiling fan was so pretty I wanted to buy the same one for the newlywed home we're about to move into haha.

With its white-and-wood combo mixed with a hint of European style, Camel Orzo was just right for an anniversary date.

The cream of mushroom soup we added as a starter

We'd only ordered two menu items at first, then thought it'd be nice to have something for an appetizer, so we added the mushroom soup. It came out so cutely and prettily plated — Camel Orzo's mushroom soup. The mushroom flavor filled my mouth.

How is the red shrimp bisque rosé pasta?

Next came the red shrimp bisque rosé pasta. It's made with a French lobster bisque sauce, with gourmet butter adding a deep shellfish flavor to the rosé pasta!! It wasn't spicy or salty, and the smooth sauce paired really well with the red shrimp.

The noodles were cooked just right too, so I really enjoyed this Camel Orzo pasta. If you love shrimp, I highly recommend this dish!! My boyfriend liked the sauce so much he kept dipping the pizza crust into the pasta sauce haha.

Bulgogi pizza straight from the wood-fired oven

The second dish was the bulgogi pizza. It's a tempting pizza generously topped with sweet bulgogi (marinated beef)! I'd also recommend this dish if you're visiting with young kids.

The combo of sweet bulgogi and arugula... it's basically love. It looked so pretty and tasted great too!

It was even more delicious fresh out of the wood-fired oven — that was the bulgogi pizza at Camel Orzo, a Gwangju pizza restaurant!! With such a great atmosphere and so many tasty dishes, this was my recommended date spot in Sangmu, Gwangju. Since they also have various drinks besides the brunch menu, I might come back next time just for drinks :)
