Suwon City Hall eel buffet where pork neck stole the show: Songnim Bok

I finally got to visit an eel restaurant again after a long time. Let me introduce Songnim Bok Jangeo, a great-value freshwater eel all-you-can-eat place near Suwon City Hall.

Songnim Bok Jangeo is an eel all-you-can-eat chain with branches across the country, and it just opened a new branch near Suwon City Hall. Since it's newly opened, I loved how clean it felt. All the tableware is brand new too~

How much is the all-you-can-eat at Songnim Bok Jangeo Suwon?

The all-you-can-eat is ₩29,900 per person, plus a ₩3,000 table fee (per adult), so figure ₩32,900 per person. Freshwater eel is pricey, so I expected it to cost a lot, but a little over ₩30,000 is pretty good, right? (Eating out, even ordering just 1kg of eel usually goes past ₩60,000... sob.) Preschoolers are free, and school-age kids are ₩14,000. There are also non-buffet menu items like eel soup and galbitang (beef rib soup), so keep that in mind haha

4 kinds all-you-can-eat: eel, pork belly, pork neck, chicken neck

At Songnim Bok Jangeo, a Suwon City Hall-area eel spot, it's not just eel that's unlimited~.. pork belly, pork neck and chicken neck are unlimited too!!

My partner loves pork belly, so we tried the pork belly first, but the pork neck here is waaay tastier than the pork belly! haha

Since freshwater eel is the main attraction, I didn't expect much from the other meats, but the pork neck and the chicken neck were so good I was totally shocked!!!!

Besides the meat, you can grab kimchi, pickles, wrap vegetables and mushrooms at the self-serve bar and eat comfortably! haha

These are the basic side dishes. There was white kimchi and green onion kimchi, which went really well with the eel! The pickled onions were tasty too haha

How to grill eel: slowly, not over high heat

Our first round was eel, pork belly and pork neck~

Because it's an all-you-can-eat eel place, the heat isn't very strong, so just think of it as cooking slowly and eat nice and relaxed.. hahaha Grilling eel over high heat doesn't work, since the fat drips and everything burns~

They must use good charcoal, because the charcoal smell was so lovely~ The pork belly was dripping fat, so I moved it to the side~ haha

My family are perilla leaf lovers,,, so we wrapped the eel in perilla leaves~~ haha Eel with pickled perilla leaves (kkaennip jangajji) is a great combo too, so we ate it that way as well!~

Plain, it's already so delicious, and there was teriyaki sauce at the table, so I dipped it lightly in the sauce too!

Turns out it's a pork neck place

And then the much-awaited pork neck went on the grill! Up to this point I had no idea Songnim Bok Jangeo was a pork neck place.. hahaha

The pork neck looked amazing~ My meat-loving partner asked whether they'd grilled it well and told me to take a photo, so click.. haha

The chicken neck was tender and delicious too! I know a chicken only yields a few grams of neck meat so it's supposedly expensive, and here it's all-you-can-eat~ True to its reputation as a Suwon City Hall eel spot, everything at Songnim Bok Jangeo was fresh and really good!

Parking and the weekday lunch atmosphere

Parking is easy behind the restaurant, so keep that in mind~ We visited on a weekday lunch and it was totally spacious and empty haha It had been a while since I visited an eel all-you-can-eat in Suwon, and I got a real stamina boost!
