An after-work dinner date in Magok: how was Taqueros?

After work, I had dinner at Taqueros Magok Main Branch. Tender ribs and tacos with a cold lime draft beer made it a perfect dinner date.

I was happy with the taste, the atmosphere and the menu setup, and I'd happily go back. If you're looking for a Mexican place with good vibes near Magongnaru Station or Magok Station, I recommend the Signature Couple Set at Taqueros Magok Main Branch.

Taqueros means "the taco makers of Jalisco." It's a Mexican restaurant near Magok Station that combines authentic Mexican cooking with the casual, passionate mood of a West Coast-style American family restaurant.

There's also an event: book through Naver and visit for a wedding-invitation gathering or birthday party, and you get a mini cheesecake. Same-day walk-ins are possible, but booking through Naver was an easy way to reserve.

Interior and seating at Taqueros Magok Main Branch

The moment I walked in, I noticed the dimmed lighting and the red-accented Mexican-style interior. The tables are fairly well spaced, so besides a Magok date it would work for group meals, company dinners or birthday parties.

Welcome nachos, queso dip and lime draft beer

First came crunchy, warm welcome nachos with creamy queso dip (cheddar/melted cheese). Dunking the freshly fried nachos into the cheese sauce was salty and crackly and so good that I ordered a draft beer right away!

The Budweiser draft with a fresh lime wedge is great with nachos, and it was just as refreshing and smooth with the ribs and tacos.

What comes in the Signature Couple Set (for 2)?

The Taqueros Signature Couple Set (for 2) lets you try a bit of everything at once. You can choose fajitas or ribs (+₩6,000) as the main, and I was curious how ribs would work at a taco place, so I chose the BBQ ribs.

Drinks aren't included in the set, so you can pick whatever drink or alcohol you like. Ades were discounted to ₩3,500 with the set, but I went with beer, haha.

How did the Taqueros BBQ ribs taste?

I fell for the Taqueros BBQ ribs the moment they arrived, with that glossy look. The meat wasn't tough and tore off easily, and just by lightly holding it, the meat separated from the bone.

The sweet, slightly smoky BBQ sauce filled my mouth. It wasn't too sweet or harsh, so I never got tired of it, and the meat stayed moist to the end with no dryness. It's fun to pick up and tear into with your hands, and each seat has hygiene gloves, so it was comfortable to eat.

The side of fries was crispy and tasty too, a good beer snack. The portion of ribs was more generous than I expected, which made it a good dinner-date menu.

Fish taco

The fish taco comes with a crisply fried, tender fish fillet topped with fresh vegetables and white tartar sauce. There's no fishy taste at all, and it's crispy yet moist, a nice match.
