Hoengseong Hanu Jeongyukjeom (횡성한우정육점) is a butcher shop on Munhwacheyuk-ro in Hoengseong-eup, Hoengseong, Gangwon, selling hanu (Korean beef) since 1979 and now run by the second generation. On a day trip to Hoengseong from a second home in Hongcheon, the writer bought hanu ribeye at Hoengseong Hanu Jeongyukjeom, seasoned it with salt and pepper and pan-fried it in olive oil at home; the ribeye was melt-in-your-mouth tender with a rich beefy flavor. Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch is a Korean set meal (hanjeongsik) restaurant on Gilju-ro in the Kkachiul area of Bucheon, Gyeonggi, known for filling the table with many banchan (side dishes). Three of us had lunch there with 3 Tteuranchae Bapsang sets plus grilled mackerel; the eggplant fritters became the top pick even for a writer who dislikes eggplant, and the nutty cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) was refillable. Not just the number of banchan but the quality of each one left all three diners happy with this Bucheon hanjeongsik lunch.
